I've just done a "just install-nix" and now I have nix packaging set up on bazzite. What documentation is there for this use of this on bazzite? There's a lot of stuff out there and I'm unsure where to begin.

nix-env --install brave

nix-env --install brave

only returns

error: selector 'brave' matches no derivations

However, if I do

nix profile install nixpkgs#brave

nix profile install nixpkgs#brave

that installs brave. Then if I want to uninstall, I have to find what it's referred to by doing

nix profile list |grep brave

nix profile list |grep brave

and on the basis of that do

nix profile remove legacyPackages.x86_64-linux.brave

nix profile remove legacyPackages.x86_64-linux.brave

. So I guess that's the right way to do it???? If anyone else has any recommendations, I'd love to hear.

Maybe I will try out fleek also. That looks interesting. I'm not quite sure what the differences are between using the aforementioned way to install nix and fleek is.

I'm not 1000% sure, that's why I've not documented it.

I typically install by running

nix-env --install app

nix-env --install app

I typically uninstall by running

nix-env --uninstall app

nix-env --uninstall app

I typically update by running

nix-env --upgrade (optional: app)

nix-env --upgrade (optional: app)

and delete old generations by running

nix-collect-garbage -d

nix-collect-garbage -d

Thanks folks. Looks like it is all working now, but before I could install anything I had to do

nix-channel --add https://nixos.org/channels/nixos-unstable unstable

and then
