Tespecially nowadays that you can properly add layers to a base image, i really dont see a true downside.
DManaged to get to grub and boot into the rollback snapshot. Didn't seem to load at first but then worked. Pinned it, but haven't rebooted yet
RIf you need to change something on a base package, for example.
ROr god forbid the kernel itself.
ROstree makes it far more doable.
Tyou replace it. thats not hard with rpm-ostree

Tif i want to build something very specific for a pc build here, i would just run nixOS at that point

RBesides, my main sticking point was the potential amount of work to make my device behave as Arch now.

Tits at max a day, or just 2-3 hours for a simple setup if you also rely on distrobox and flatpaks for things you dont want on your base image

Ta good working nix config for mostly gaming and container related tasks only takes ~150 lines of nix
Tthere are tons of configs to copy from on github, too.
Thome-manager and flakes arent necessary and are the true head crashers for a newcomer.
RLet's just say that functional is not really my cup of tea.
RIt adds too much complications to something that really doesn't need to.
RAnd besides, I can always use a script for doing the same on Arch.
