FThe .bin files for teh wifi chip remind me of dynamic libraries in a way, shouldn't they just be plugins?

PI've been using kde. Are gnome extensions prone to breaking on gnome updates? I had one machine on gnome and I think it wasn't just an automatic thing for gnome extensions to update. And does dolphin work well in gnome?
