Should tray icon for Solaar (GNOME) appear at all times when solaar was launched or only when any compatible device is connected to Deck? Because right now no icon is displayed in tray whenever I launch Solaar. AppIndicator extension is enabled.

You need to include it into initramfs arguments directly, just rebuilding does not work.

This is the location where you need to include /etc/modprobe.d/hid_apple.conf:
/etc/bazzite/initramfs/args.d/etc/bazzite/initramfs/args.d

as in you need to use an rpm-ostree initramfs argument that you put in a text file in that location which includes the modprobe file.

make a textfile and add the rpm-ostree initramfsrpm-ostree initramfs argument that you need there.

there is also a chance this can all be avoided with a kernel argument too, something like hid_apple.fnmode=0hid_apple.fnmode=0 but idk if that will work

Figured it out - It seems that tray icon (and solaar itself will work in the background) only if there is already a compatible device connected by the time solaar is launched. If solaar is launched with --window=hide--window=hide option and there is no device connected, then it will silently close immediately.

--arg=--arg= is for rpm-ostree
anything inside the quotes gets passed to dracut when rpm-ostree rebuilds the initramfs.
the issue is that if you pass new args to rpm-ostree initramfsrpm-ostree initramfs without our workaround, it will remove all previous additions since you need to provide it both new and old arguments if you want to keep anything that was added previously (and rpm-ostree has no good way to show you the old arguments with the correct quotations, hence our workaround in bazzite)

I'm at a point where I'm convinced bazzite just hates my bluetooth headphones. My laptop can hook up to em fine and that's also on Fedora 39 but bazzite just wants nothing to do with anything. Annoying...
