Thank you for your activity, @kmulier. When adding a new symbol, I prefer keeping the designator with the ? wildcard. Then, after all changes are implemented, the annotation of the entire schematic is done. Or sheet by sheet. Or selected block by selected block. It all depends on the project. Some customers wants different series for different sheets or blocks. If the new kicad_designators plugin works for you well, I am happy!
