On mine, the GND and D- wire positions were switched on the JST plug for the USB dongle. I put the wires in the correct positions and it worked.

I am planning to build a base. Now I have some nice DIY grips attached to a MS FFB2. Can I use these grips a VPforce base? They have 74HC165N shift registers wired to arduino pro micro with mmjoy software. Can the Rhino FFB software interface with these?

I believe you will just need an inverter on the latch/CS of the 74HC165N to make them work like a CD4021 for the VPForce board.

So I am finally getting close to getting my FFB base. I see 2 choices for Grip adapters, Virpil and Winwing. Does anyone know if there is a plain old B8 Style grip that would work? Ideally buying an adapter from Vforce to save time and energy!

Virpil WarBRD grip is probably your best option for B8 style and doesn't require an adaptor. It doesn't have a paddle lever so if you want that then you need to step up to a higher spec grip or get the VKB KG12 which would require an adaptor. https://virpil-controls.eu/vpc-warbrd-grip.html

Hey @walmis I have issue with my WW Adapter (Order Number: 757) I just got today my DYI Rhino, in setup all was working fine, buttons and axis recognized. Then after one ca 40min flight for getting feel of the settings, when I was flaring on landing, suddenly random buttons from my stick were getting activated. I thought that maybe stick and adapter connection got loose but after reseating it, I don't have any response or button/axis recognition. My F-16EX is working fine on Orion 2 base, debug tab shows FFFF (found how to debug grip). I took it apart to check for possible damage or cracks in connection but all is well. One think is that its getting very hot very fast, like 10-15second and I can't touch it...

Huh, i got the Virpil Constellation Alpha Grip, and its LED just randomly illuminated in white, full brightness. Went back to off after replugging the USB, got a DIY base. Should i be worried?

Got the Virpil Link Tool running with LED profiles for Panels and Throttle, but it shouldn't be able to talk to the Rhino..

I don't know exactly what signal Virpil uses to piggyback LED data on the SPI data lines, but yeah, during testing I've managed to illuminate mine too randomly. You can ignore it.

Any reason the Rhino might suddenly whack itself full negative elevator and roll left and turn off its motors when entering the aircraft on the airstrip in IL-2?
Calibration went completely out of whack too. Had to exit absolutely everything I was doing, all the VPForce software, unplug the stick (both power supply & USB), replug the stick, restart the Configurator and calibrate the stick again.

I have noticed that after crashing when you load into the next mission the stick wants to behave like you have just crashed. Takes a second to recognize the new position.

using TelemFFB? There's an elevator droop effect that will pull your stick forward when not moving on the ground.. but it wouldn't 'slam' the stick unless you had the effect turned up super high.

As for the motors going into fault protection, check your inertia and friction settings in configurator. I find too much friction or inertia, specifically with IL2 will often cause motor fault protections to occur.

BTW, if you do get a motor shut down, you can usually recover by using the

The droop effect is in TelemFFB. You can reduce the intensity or even turn it off, but while that may be part of the cause, it’s more likely a symptom of something else (like inertia/friction).

Also check your periodic effects slider in VPForce configurator. All the default effect intensities in TelemFFB for things like gunfire/engine are based on having the periodics slider at %50.

Constant force effects like elevator droop are based on the Constant effect slider at %100.

Can you share a screenshot of the configurator settings panel? You mentioned the calibration went out of whack, which is a bit sus. Maybe the belt slipped, can you check the tension?

help! - my rhino has started behaving erratically - main 2 issues are sometimes when I start it up am getting a zero value on the ibus (stick remains limp) - then when it starts working strangely my left and right axis seem to be reversed (the little blue circle when I push the stick right moves left!) previously it was moving the same way as the stick - what would you suggest and is there any way to do a reset?

Strangely the ibus has now come back (around 0.7A from zero) and stick is now working again! (Not sure if it’s intermittent issue)- no idea what’s causing the behaviour…..
