Bios was in uefi mode but the freshly installed os seen only in legacy mode. What's weird is that the usb image I used was seen as uefi in bios before installation but now the bios can't show it uop as uefi either

Suprisingly the same thing happened a few times with the regular fedora installation, but in the end I was able to boot in uefi in the last installation. Really weird.

I used automatic partitioning under manual mode during the install process

distrobox, if it is not a flatpak it is always "try distrobox first" as it works for 90% of applications people want
the other 10% are things that need tighter integration to the host (vpn clients, window managers, ugh... teamviewer, etc)

think of distrobox as a wrapper for docker/podman that integrates it with the host and you can install gui applications and cli applications in it which do not touch the host system. it is one of the best ways to install something on an atomic or immutable system

yes homebrew is another alternative, it is an alternative package manager that contains all the installs inside $HOME/linuxbrew$HOME/linuxbrew, also works for cli applications that need tighter integration with the host
however brew is only for cli applications

yt-dlp is great, in Windows I made custom functions to download specific stuff and it worked without issues, with immutable things work a bit different

make a thread in #bazzite-help and give us the log from ~/.gamescope-stdout.log~/.gamescope-stdout.log and ~/.gamescope-cmd.log~/.gamescope-cmd.log when it happens then we will have a bigger chance of being able to help you

So I was copying very important files to another drive because I needed to back them up because Bazzite was acting super freaky and weird for me

turns out, bazzite has decided to copy all of the folders and none of the files

this marks the end of my journey with Linux until it's capable of doing the most basic system tasks known to man without causing me over 2 weeks worth of data loss

I know the feel, I have been screwed similarly back in the day by OS X. I was moving college project files to an external drive and apparent for just a split second the USB drive lost connection for a bit, which under normal circumstances wouldn't be that big a deal, but then there's Apple. See, when you are doing a move files option if by any chance the destination becomes unavailable it reverts the move but then also deletes the files in the source, so you're left with nothing. Almost failed my grade, luckily I could hand in the files later.

Yeah when copying from drive to drive I usually do a copy and when it succeeds I remove the original
