YHey, I just ordered a 2TB NVMe for my Steam Deck OLED and I'm planning to move over to Bazzite once it arrives. Which issues are still present in Bazzite on SD OLED?
ABios was in uefi mode but the freshly installed os seen only in legacy mode. What's weird is that the usb image I used was seen as uefi in bios before installation but now the bios can't show it uop as uefi either
ASuprisingly the same thing happened a few times with the regular fedora installation, but in the end I was able to boot in uefi in the last installation. Really weird.

Hdistrobox, if it is not a flatpak it is always "try distrobox first" as it works for 90% of applications people want
the other 10% are things that need tighter integration to the host (vpn clients, window managers, ugh... teamviewer, etc)

H@potemkinhr and if you need a gui for distrobox, use boxbuddy, all our images ship it (except main images, even then its a flatpak)

Hthink of distrobox as a wrapper for docker/podman that integrates it with the host and you can install gui applications and cli applications in it which do not touch the host system. it is one of the best ways to install something on an atomic or immutable system

Pis homebrew an alternative as @yukidream suggested? I'll probably also need ffmpeg to interface with it for some commands so better integration between them might tip the scales between them
Dffmpeg is preinstalled on bazzite since it is being used for thumbnail
Hyes homebrew is another alternative, it is an alternative package manager that contains all the installs inside
however brew is only for cli applications

Hit is also independent of the system so i believe it uses its own dependencies

Pyt-dlp is great, in Windows I made custom functions to download specific stuff and it worked without issues, with immutable things work a bit different

turns out, bazzite has decided to copy all of the folders and none of the files
this marks the end of my journey with Linux until it's capable of doing the most basic system tasks known to man without causing me over 2 weeks worth of data loss

AWhat happened to the original files?
PI know the feel, I have been screwed similarly back in the day by OS X. I was moving college project files to an external drive and apparent for just a split second the USB drive lost connection for a bit, which under normal circumstances wouldn't be that big a deal, but then there's Apple. See, when you are doing a move files option if by any chance the destination becomes unavailable it reverts the move but then also deletes the files in the source, so you're left with nothing. Almost failed my grade, luckily I could hand in the files later.

AYeah when copying from drive to drive I usually do a copy and when it succeeds I remove the original
AAlso important to note that Linux uses ram caching for all drives unlike windows
ASo the transfer shows finished before it finishes
AAnd if you don't eject you get data corruption
Tlemme say it like this:
1. Files are on Drive A
2. I copy them to Drive B, now they're on Drives A and B
3. I wipe Drive A completely, it's now empty
4. I check Drive B, turns out the files didn't copy properly and essentially everything is gone aside empty folders

DAnyone run into issues using gamescope where you go to alt tab to a browser and only the virtual desktop for the game is visible
Hhow did you do the copy, also did you actually check if the progress was 100% done before even ejecting drive B (so that the remaining transfered files get flushed to the drive before you remove it if they havent been moved yet)
kde and gnomes file managers do not show progress in a clear way, often hiding it into a small icon either in the file manager or tray.
because linux tends to make the empty folders first, then copy files so it sounds like an incomplete transfer.

Ethis sucks i dont know why gw2 isnt launching anymore
Hmeans it can still be cached in ram and wont get force flushed before you eject the drive (unmount)
