Cause you should have a lot of spring force normally, but when you press and hold trim up it'll become a dead stick

Remember, holding trim up will also reset the SAS back to your physical input. While holding it, the SAS is inactive. Once you release it, the SAS becomes active again

Yes, I have trim bound. And it is very possible I am using trim when I should not be. Taking off in the Apache Instant Action in NTTR, I take off fine. The second I press the trim switch forward the stick goes slack, the moment I release trim, the stick goes full aft.

Nope... just keyboard. I thought it might be because in the configurator I have the Grip Type set to VPC when I am using a TM F-18. The trim buttons are seen as a hat this way instead of buttons. The trim in aircraft does not work unless I set it to VPC T-50, but I set it to generic grip, remapped the buttons and am still getting the same behavior.

General guidance:
- Make sure the special options trimmer is set to Instant/FFB FriendlyInstant/FFB Friendly
- Make sure you don't have any curves set on the axis, they are not compatible with FFB
- Make sure your rhino is properly calibrated and that the axis position dot in configurator follows the stick correctly. If it is inverted, reverse the axis is configurator - do not reverse it in DCS.

Oh holy hell!!! This was it!!!! Thank you!!! My pitch axis was inverted and needed to be checked in the Configurator. Then going back to DCS, I made sure the pitch axis was not inverted in the DCS bindings, it is not and now it works!!!!

Holy crap! I cannot stress how much I have been missing in the FFB experience with this one simple fix of making sure the axis were not inverted in the configurator. It is a whole new game! Amazing, simply amazing.

not just DCS curves, but curves + FFB in general. If you think about what would happen when the center is no longer [0,0], it no longer makes sense. It also isn't feasible to try to move the curve with the center position.

In MSFS, where we are in full control of the axis position via TelemFFB, we support axis scaling/saturation.

Unfortunately in DCS, setting the saturation results in the same divergence of axis [x,y] versus FFB (physical) [x,y] across the range of an axis.

good point. saturation curves work well when a stick is centered with springs after a trim, but it doesnt make sense with a force trim staying in position

No they are ball bearings not spherical bushings. They have 2 rows of balls and the outer race is dished so they can deflect off-axis while carrying radial loads. These things
