Got my Rhino today. Had the honor of getting it directly from Walmis hands in his workshop BTW, I have MKI VKB grip, which is not supported. It took Walmis to look at it for 10 seconds, and another 20 min to manufacture a proper adaptor. Such a great guy! Another thing that I was surprised, is the amount of stuff they doing in-house. They even mill some smaller aluminum parts!
This reminds me: @walmis your order form only mentions VKB Gunfighter MK III compatibility, but MK II also had Rev.B connectors and is thus compatible.

About the cooling fan; its loud and seems pretty ineffective (takes a long time for temps to drop 1 degree, especially considering the amount of noise). Not a big deal when wearing headphones, but flying solo I prefer not to. I dont know how the Rhino looks on the inside, I havent opened mine yet, but there has to be room for improvement here? For starters, is it possible to have the fan on at a low rpm all the time? Secondly, maybe some cooling fins on the motor if there is any room for it?
Turn the master gain knob to full and fly for 30 mins, and they will kick in, Do I need full power? Hmm.. maybe not, but I do like it, and my PC room is still cool (it wont be this summer).
Yeah I think its 50C, and there is some hysteresis, I think it turns off at 47 or so. But even with no power being applied, that takes a pretty long time and there doesnt seem to be any fan speed control, its either on or off? That this is a safe temp; sure, probably, but that doesnt change anything really.
I could be wrong, but I think the temps in question are internal motor temps. And with these motors the casings are also used as heatsinks, great big lumps of them, so I'd expect they take a while to warm up and at least as long if not longer to dissipate, at least during use.
yeah, but the casing, and Im assuming its just the stock stepper motor casing, doesnt have much surface area compared to some finned coolers. Gluing on some ribbed cooler could increase the surface area many fold and make the fan much more effective, assuming there is any room.
Hi, I also have the fan turning on very often. Would you mind sharing a screenshot of your VP Force effects and settings screen? I would like to compare if my gains or my filter values the ones causing the overheat. I recently even ditched the extention to get more force. Thank you.
Hey @jonner, So the last Shipped RHINO is #0525 on 2024-05-10 Average waiting time from preorder to shipped is 209 days, median is 215 days, max is 407 days 513 Rhinos are shipped in total
481 just in case your interested thought I would give u my feedback on using the rhino with the mh60 mod - basically managed to get the hardware trim working by applying the setting to the stick (can see force trim is working from the axis display ) but using it this way the helicopter takes in a nose down attitude (even trimmed fully back stick) - only way I can get it flyable (with force trim partly working) is disabling the hardware trim and assigning force trim binds in game (makes it flyable) - just my experience…..not sure if anyone else had a similar experiences?
In laymen's terms, what do these adapters do? Is it possible to use Virpil sticks with the Rhino? Would I need an adapter like this? Does an adapter already exist?
