Question for anyone who feels like answering, is there a way to make a script (.sh) default to opening in console? I have it set as executable, and KDE gives me the prompt to open or execute when I click on it, but choosing execute just has it start in the background somewhere. I need it to run in console so that I can see the outputs and close it down.

so .bashrc is a hidden file in your home directory that runs whenever bash is run, it's basically its own shell script and it's used to set up your shell environment so you can add this shell script you wanna run to the end of it (on the last line just write the path to the script) and it'll run whenever you open a terminal

I'm assuming here that you are using konsole
Have you tried konsole -e /path/to/scriptkonsole -e /path/to/script?

Alternatively you can take the output of the command in a log file

Something similar to say, ls > logfile.logls > logfile.log will write the output of ls command to logfile.log

wait I think I misread what you wanted I saw it as wanting a script to open whenever you open the terminal but on reread it looks like you just want a script to open in the terminal when you run it

To be clear, I'm a fairly linux noob. I try to work through the GUI as much as possible. To explain my situation, I use comfyUI for some AI stuff, and it runs through the terminal. I have a venv set up as well, to keep the python stuff I need for it sectioned off. I made a very simple script to run that first initializes the venv before starting ComfyUI. Just a .sh file. I was just wondering if there's an easy way to make the .sh file run in terminal when I click on it. I get the option to open/edit the file, or execute. The problem with execute, is that it starts comfyUI but doesn't open a terminal for it, so I can't easily see the outputs or shut it down. Right now, I'm right clicking on the .sh file and there's a menu option to run in terminal. I was just wondering if there was a way to make it so clicking on the .sh file defaults to opening it in terminal.

You can also change the script to run your command in a konsole window
Problem with this approach is that if you hard code script without checks(extra work) then everytime you execute the command it will open a new konsole window always, even if you run inside a already existing konsole window

As giphit mentioned, .desktop file make a menu entry for you, so you can launch something as simple as launching your web browser.

Another way to do it is to either:
1) hardcore script by adding konsole -e before the actual commands you are running inside the script

2) make another script with following contents:

#!/bin/bash
exec konsole -e /path/to/script

#!/bin/bash
exec konsole -e /path/to/script

Nope
You need to make a seperate file inside .local/share/applications with the extension .desktop, so it will look something like ~/.local/share/applications/comfyInit.desktop

The think that's irritating me is that from what I read online, setting the .sh file to executable should prompt a window in KDE to "run in terminal" when instead it prompts "execute" which does run the script, just without opening a terminal, and I don't know how to view something that is running in the background unless I manually start something in the konsole myself.

Hello all, im having a issue of launching any game on the rog ally. Desktop mode just won't run anything as a last resort and game mode flickers the wide capsule down like it's launching but then repeats that flicker and refuses to launch. Anyone got suggestions lol. It's made bazzite only useful for web browsing and emulation
