One other thing left to do which is making some of the libraries target .NET 8 and .NET 8 Android so I can use Android specific code for certain things.. fun times

Coming back to this, got a new open question.
I've got the following

    <AndroidAsset Include="../Content/**/*.*">
      <CopyToOutputDirectory>PreserveNewest</CopyToOutputDirectory>
    </AndroidAsset>

    <AndroidAsset Include="../Content/**/*.*">
      <CopyToOutputDirectory>PreserveNewest</CopyToOutputDirectory>
    </AndroidAsset>

in my .csproj for the android project, but when I do this particular syntax it removes all folder structure and adds everything from Content into the base. Calling AssetManager.List("");AssetManager.List(""); gives me the 3 defaults plus my 14 assets instead of the 3 defaults + the content folder.

if you use the concrete type, the dictionary APIs are non-virtual which means that no vtable lookup is needed

the JIT can elide vtable lookups occasionally, and PGO also kicks in after a while in practice, but all of these are inconsistent optimisations that it's better to do the right thing for in the first instance anyway

constant massive security vulnerabilities i'd have to keep up updating to fix, tons of Illegal Content instances that i'd need to keep up with blocking
half of the actual fediverse is just "people who were banned from twitter", so racism, homophobia, and just general scum of the earth
bigger instances like mastodon.social block those, but its hard to keep up as a smaller instance
