Nobviously probably not 100% realistic, but I like rhino with the DCS viper
Nit's the only setup with which I don't feel ED's stupid laggy breakout force curve anymore
Nflies real smooth and the ffb effects are nice in moderation
NBut if you have a FSSB stick already, maybe you will have a different experience
THi. What is the general consensus of adding an extension? I'm looking at adding about 120mm to my Rhino with my WW F-16EX grip. I'm mostly a DCS flyer, FW and RW, some MSFS.
BIt's not a big issue, but you get more force without it.
So if possible I'd like not to.
I use a z extension myself, from virpil mostly to get the grip closer to me, but it also builds 111mm.
Ideally I would just built the unit up, and moved it closer, but it would conflict with my seat and/or myself.

BAnything much more than 12cm would cost a lot of force, and the gimbal itself is constructed in such a way as it comes with 10cm extension already, so using 10(ish)cm extension you in effect have 20cm.
Ai've always been very curious to try a gseat, but yeah, also curious if anyone here as ever built one

Awhat i'm also curious about is how much they depend on VR to create the experience, or if they would work ok with a monitor
SA few years ago the most I saw was for racing sims. I'd think they'd work good VR or flat

RHINO #0646 Has Shipped!Jregarding the G seat, i've never used a different platform so I cant do a direct comparison, but I do like the seat, there are pros and cons with it - but overall I had blast building it and learned a lot along the way. Essentially the Bergison's G seat replicates heave, sway, and surge. You can mix in a little roll, pitch, and yaw - but in most cases it's not really necessary. The seat flaps and belt do give the sensation of the g forces although its probably more effective replicating strong positive g's than strong negative g's. This really isnt a problem if you fly the aircraft properly and invert rather than placing strong negative g's on the aircraft which i'm told pilots and airframes like to avoid anyway. What i didnt like about the first version of hte chair was that there was some slack in the rods and motors when direction was reversed and the movement seemed a little jerky for my tastes. The modifications being done now (different rod connection type, and servos instead of dc motors) should address these issues. If indeed that's the case when I'm done, I'll love the seat for high-g flight.
JBTW the seat is also a ton of fun when making an approach with a small plane in turbulence and heavy crosswinds (MSFS/Xplane)
JI also mounted a home grown buttkicker to the seat, but honestly i get better feedback through the MFG FFB pedal mod I just did from hiob. its really fantastic. I'll probably be able to make the butt kicker a little more subtle because of that after the seat rebuild which may improve its overall performance. Still waiting on my rhino (I'm in the low 100's now, whoo hoo!) I suspect that will also add quite a bit of immersion.
A@j9murphy Do you know of any popular/working air bladder g-seat mods for a bucket seat?

SHello mates. Has anyone a good profile for F4E dcs world for a cyclic with 30-40cm extension?
1I’m brand new to the rhino but I tried one of the profiles from knowledge thread last night and it completely screwed up my stuff, use caution! I could’ve done something wrong but it changed my stick calibration everything…..
Pthe profile will have the calibration info for that base with it

1So sharing vpconf files are a bad idea?
PI don't have rhino in & config app open atm but can you copy paste your own calibration numbers somewhere then load the new profile & copy paste you calibration back in? not exactly smooth operation but better than recalibrating if you don't want to.

PI just have a few generic profiles I use then tweak each new module from there as I fly it. Have a generic profile each for; fbw jet, non-fbw jet, warbird, helo, ga. Load the profile & tweak as you fly it.
1Can you have profiles for telemffb that doesn’t affect vpconfig?
Pyeah always keep a backup copy of a default profile that has been calibrated, that way if anything goes wrong you can reload that & get back to a baseline that was working
PI look at it that vpconfig is to adjust how the base feels & telemffb is to adjust what effects the sim sends to the base
1I gathered that last night, I thought when I loaded the profile it was just loading to telemffb but it changed my vpconfig too
Pwith dcs & IL2 you don't need telemffb as those sims have native ffb support, msfs2020 needs telemffb cause it has no native support. So you can run dcs without telemffb & still get whatever ffb effects the module maker baked in.
Poh yeah you can point telemffb app to the config profile you want it to load for a certian module, so when you jump in the f-18 it will load the vpconfig profile you tell it too.

Pyeah so the f-14 has good ffb native, the f4 has some it just depends on the module maker. Telemffb adds more though, like the bumps from ground texture on taxi etc.

SI can not understand how F4E fly. i mean i pull stick aft and always it counters FWD, it always counters to the opposite direction.
SSo if i want to fly i move stick back and also trim back otherwise it counters my input

PI'm not sure about that? Is it trying to load a different profile for a new module? Sorry you might need to take that one to support channel
