P

return it
P

•

they sold you something not fit for purpose
, go ask for a replacement
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:25 AM
unfortunately it
's not unheard of for an outlet like Argos to accidentally get their hands on some suspicious stock when it comes to Micro SDs
P
Pez
wake from sleep problems are usually a matter of platform support, unfortunately...

It seems fine if only using the Ally handheld
, so it
's has to be something to do with a service resuming from sleep that handles hdmi output
. Anywhere you can suggest I start poking around
?

i think this makes too much sense to be the case
P

•
8/11/24, 11:26 AM
tbh
.
.
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:26 AM
it is very likely a chipset issue that
's hard to reproduce
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:26 AM
as in
, other units probably don
't show the same level of bad behaviour

this is random chance on bootleg SD Cards
P

it
's more likely to fail at the end of the disk

Other units as in different devices or other Allys specifically
?

you genuinely won
't run into any problems until you try to meet the capacity on the label
C

P

other AMD handhelds
, but other Allys too
. this isn
't a one
-way street
.
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:29 AM
instability could be down to how the devices are produced
, maybe a lack of proper driver support
, etc
.
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:30 AM
you could probably end up with the exact same device
, and no problems at all
S

And in refind there is touch or control?

It

I had layered Koi with rpm
-ostree but apparently Ublue devs recommend using Brew instead
R

•

What
's the difference
?

Oh really
R

What's the difference?
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:39 AM
brew won
't blow out how long it takes to update and you don
't subject yourself to unnecessary layering
R
Robotta

P

•
8/11/24, 11:39 AM
you can thing about brew like a flatpak but for cli apps
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:39 AM
ostree itself is half the reason updating takes so long
P
Pryka
•
8/11/24, 11:39 AM
distro agnostic
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:39 AM
^ if you need a CLI app you should go brew
> distrobox
> ostree layer as a last resort
R
Robotta
•
8/11/24, 11:39 AM
So
, should I ostree reset and then Brew Koi
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:40 AM
layering is not really supported very much so yeah
R
Robotta
•
8/11/24, 11:40 AM
Makes sense then
R
Robotta
•
8/11/24, 11:40 AM
Will do that later
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:40 AM
honestly i
'd suggest it just because layering takes so long
A

just keep in mind
cask
cask
packages are for MacOS and you can
't really mess up
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:42 AM
you don
't really see linux stuff on brew that has any form of GUI
R

•

Hmm crazy idea but
R
Robotta
•
8/11/24, 11:43 AM
Could one technically do brew install steam
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:43 AM
no
, it would more than likely be a cask for MacOS
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:43 AM
because steam is a GUI tool and already has other distribution methods on linux
R
Robotta
•
8/11/24, 11:43 AM
I see

OP

8/11/24, 11:43 AM
But why would loads of high street shops sell them
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:44 AM
yeah
, steam brew package is a cask
P
Pez
you don't really see linux stuff on brew that has any form of GUI
A
asen23
•
8/11/24, 11:44 AM
pretty sure any gui app in brew are
strictly
macos only
P
Pez
•
8/11/24, 11:44 AM
this means it
's only really useful for macos users who want a package manager
- if we need that
, we have our own package managers
