I mainly fly A-10CIIs in DCS. The Rhino used to jump forwards a bit as soon as I entered the cockpit of the A-10. I've read here that this is normal. But recently (maybe since one of the last DCS updates) the stick stays in the centre. However, DCS now thinks I have already pulled the stick back a bit. As a result, the aircraft always pulls upwards. As long as I fly slowly, the trim is sufficient, but when I fly fast, maximum trim down is no longer sufficient. I then always have to hold against it. If I switch off FFB in the DCS misc settings, the effect does not occur. And I don't have this problem with the Hornet either. Has anyone else noticed this? Or does anyone know a solution?

I’ll need to check later today when I get back from a business trip. I was chatting with subsonic via a PM and he had a pretty good theory that it might be my power supply. The times that I’ve had the stick go dead on me has been usually at the end of a longer mission when I’m in the carrier pattern and of course getting a lot of different forces on the control surfaces with the jet having the landing gear down, etc.. He said he’s saying a similar occurrence when the motors are drawing a lot of power from the PSU and it’s not able to keep up. So I may need to explore buying a more powerful PSU unsure.

I copied your settings @TrigaNZ and now it worked. Kind of wondering if unchecking "adaptinve recentering" somehow did the trick, but not sure. Stick still moves forward, but not by even half as much as it used to.

My problem was related to "Balance Spring". After deactivating it the problem is solved.
Seems to be incompatible with the forward center of A-10C.

Hey, since today I have a weird issue.
When switching profiles on the rhino I get one very hard hit on the stick and the y axis motor switches off.
This never occurred before.

The F-4 has a unique controls implementation in DCS. Let me find the instructions... this was discussed shortly after Lead Sled was released. If I won't find them I can send you my settings. You should tweak the in-game F-4E specific control settings too.

hi! I just received the Rhino and I'm playing a bit with it. Really impressed with it so far!
I was able to set up a default spring effect in the VPForce FFB configurator, but is there any way to get it to deactivate if I open a game with ANY FFB effect? This is similar to the way the old MS FFB2 joystick works.
The intention is to be able to play FFB games and others with no FFB effects (such as Elite) without having to open the program and make changes manually when I change games

That is how it works.

Sliders on the Settings tab define the max applied value any given effect can achieve when an effect is started with a gain of "%100".
The effect settings on the Effects tab are local, meaning that if a game comes along and starts a spring effect, it will override the spring effect you have configured in the effects tab unless you have the "sticky" checkbox enabled.

Cool, the reason why I was thinking that maybe that was not the case is if the game loads other effects but not a spring effect when it starts. Maybe IL-2 before I get any airspeed, or unsure what effect is technically used for helos. That's great to hear

From memory it's balance spring the most useful. But try the others settings. For me it's the best settings for my joystick

It appears that my experience of having no FFB in Cliff of Dover is not universal and others are reporting that it works as expected even without the configuarator or telem running. Can anyone else confirm or perhaps point to something obvious that I'm missing. I should add that the rhino seems to work fine in other titles. Thanks

I am still having issues with my stick. The DC plug is in place. It was sitting there, nothing happening (but on of course) and suddenly the stick powered down so I don't believe that it is the DC power. The USB port is a little wobbly, but a different error occurs when the USB plug is pulled out, so I don't believe that it is a USB fault or hub fault. Log below attached. Any ideas?

Try the following things one by one:

Disable Power Management for USB connected Devices
Connect Rhino directly to a USB on the mainboard
Try another psu. I suggest Meanwell 350/24. Best psu for Rhino imho.

Hello pilots! A few questions for those who have the Rhino on rudder pedals.

I'm having trouble finding an optimal setting on the Fenix A3xx series. I have the impression that everything is empty as if 0 resistance didn't apply...everything else about planes and helicopters seems "realistic" (at least in my vision) but for the Fenix, I seem to have 0 sensation.
Would you have any recommendations for settings or effects to prioritize for the rudders of Airliners?

Yeah, this is indeed strange. I see both motors throw an undervoltage fault and restart after 1 second. Seems like it could be a power supply issue. If you have a spare laptop supply 12-20V with a 5.5/2.5 DC jack you could give it a try to isolate the issue. But the 1 second delay after motor timeout strongly suggests a PSU restart after some sort of internal fault.

Try this. I used to think IL-2 (GB) had a bad/wonky FFB implementation... CLoD said "hold my beer".

I invested $2.49 to buy the game this morning out of an abundance of curiosity to see if I could figure out CLoD FFB. The above link is what I have added to the Rhino manual that should get it working. At least, its what I had to do to get it working.

The "answer" is already documented... sort of... just poorly and out of date. In the games manual/troubleshooting guide (pg54 in my copy) there is a section about using the devreorder tool. In there it mentions force feedback... but it's not really obvious that this part of the troubleshooting section is talking about fixing the enumeration issue. It also says to use the 32 bit DLL. I spent a good hour or two trying different things and could not get it to recognize the new device ordering. Then I noticed the exe is Launcher64Launcher64 so I thought to try the 64 bit DLL.. it worked.

My "test" mostly consisted of starting up the "first solo" training mission and making sure the game started a spring with 0 gain on the right device. I did briefly do an air start and saw I had spring force and felt some stall buffeting.

I don't know what other FFB gremlins may exist in the title.

Oh there are many, many gremlins

like firing cannon, droppig bombs and your AI gunners firing all cut the spring FFB until you drop below 320 km/h where it renegages. or no FFB at all on spawn in. All for the devs to look at again now FFB is back in fashion. Removing VJoy from my PC and only having the Rhino connected worked (as predicted). I will suggest TFS look at the Rhino manual and edit their troubleshooting. Thank you again for jumoing on this. I realise Clod is not a popular title.

I've have got ffb working in BMS with another base but haven't tried the rhino yet (only got it a few days ago). You have to add a [ to the first line of the feedback.ini file so it looks like this [EffectData]. Hello all, i did an update for the first time since I received my rhino mid March 2024 and Im not really happy with the update v1.0.17b. The things that changed in feeling are the spring force and some little control bump that happens while flying. The spring force used to get so tight at 100% that I would never adjust the red knob that high but now I can and it feels less stiff. The second issue is as Im flying and turning there will be this little bump in the stick at which the force/push back drops back in resistance and then returns to normal. I didn't have any problems prior to doing an update. is there a way to go back to my original software that was in the stick when i got it or what can i change to make it back to the original feeling?
