SIf I order the Rhino, is it possible to upgrade the motors in it by simply ordering the motors and printing/cutting new sidewalls for them to fit, or is the box physically bigger for the larger motor flanges?
TIt’s not as simple as swapping the motors, the case is totally different for the larger flange size

FGood day all, I have a G940 running at the moment but I'm thinking about upgrading to a Rhino. Mainly flying modern Jets and Helicopters I'm not sure which kit I should take. Is the base kit enough when coming from the G940 or should I go to the medium-sized kit instead? Hope you guys have any first hand recommendations for me
DHi, I have the 86BLF04 motors fitted in my home made setup including rudder pedals. The torque is so great that I limit the master gain to 70%. My gear ratio is 3.6:1. I have never measured the torque produced at max levels. The other benefit is my motors never get hot, and therefore I have no need for fans. As an Ex PPL pilot and someone who is involved in building new flight sims for the military, one of the key benefits of the FFB is not just the feedback from control surfaces, but the subtleties of feeling stalls, buffeting, gear and flap travel etc.... One of the biggest positive impacts of using the FFB is Trim and Force Trim, they make flying even more immersive, and in some cases easier. If you are fighting stick pressures when you are not manoeuvring, you are probably not flying "correctly". Trimming was hammered into me in my PPL training by an ex-military instructor, and it makes flying more pleasurable and less tiring. Currently I am building a second identical setup for my son. However, I do not think you will lose much by buying the standard motors, plus they are cheaper if budget is an issue.

FThnx for the reply, I mainly use the FFB from my G940 for trimming so this is what I mainly want to upgrade. The G940 is too limited and too old now. I use also basshaker in my rig for all kind of effects wich works very very well and is super immersive, especially in VR

YI have G940 too. The Rhino is a completely different level, even with the standard motor option.
MWhat's the difference between trim and force trim?
DI might get this wrong, so I will defer to any rotary pilot expert who corrects me.
In a fixed wing aircraft you normally trim a little at a time, eg you adjust a trim wheel or trim “hat” to get the control input trimmed so no more force is applied to keep the aircraft in a stable attitude. The more trim required, the more you have to adjust the trim wheel or trim “hat”.
Forced trim is found in certain helicopters. It is called “force trim” because even if you have a large amount of trim to adjust to remove your cyclic forces, it is just a single button press of the “Force Trim” button and takes immediate trimming effect. No need for lots of trim adjustments. There may be a similar function on some fixed wing aircraft, I do not know for certain, I am only aware of it being used in rotary aircraft.
EDIT: I should have added, that for both fixed wing and helicopters, trimming will remove control forces, therefore the control (Rudder/Yaw pedals, and Stick/Cyclic) will stay in the new position without you having to add an input if properly trimmed and in balanced flight. However, there are possibly exceptions to this as there are many ways an aircraft can trim out flying forces, and also how the control surfaces are linked to the control inputs.

- Trim: change the pitch/roll of aircraft without changing stick position
- Force Trim: change pitch/roll of aircraft with changing stick position with new center

FForce trim is holding your cyclic in place by electromagnetic clutches that you interrupt when holding the button. Aka you interrupt, move stick, release -> new center.
With trim he probably refers to the hat trimming where you move the new center by pressing the hat in a direction with the system moving the stick there.

BIt simply brings the grip closer, so the base can be placed so the belt don't rub against my seat.

VWhich profile to use when flying Falcon BMS, it has very limited set of FFB reaction like too high load and missile firing
FThe F16 is a fly-by-wire aircraft which have little FFB in the first place, and then its also a force sensing stick which basically has no feedback. I assume there will be little you can do unless you make something with telemFFB
BThere are some basic effects, you can for example feel g's as you pull, with telemffb of course. And you can use a profile with significantly reduced throw range to make it feel real snappy.
VOh, sorry I was using the Rhino for F-15C which has its own avonics. I use the other base for side stick planes.
VSo, in my case, I can just manually load the DCS F-15C profile and use it as is, right?

AReducing the range/throw of the stick really wouldn’t hold a candle to how a force sensing stick feels, regardless of ramping up resistance
AIt would just make for a strange feeling which likely wears on the internal mechanics quite a bit, and limits your manoeuvrability in game
