In what situations would you wear a blazer or sportcoat?
I have a quasi professional local government gig. Trying to normalize situations in which I wear a blazer myself. No dress code in my office, but for slightly formal meetings I'll try to follow the Derek Guy guidelines and bust out a textured patch pocket type blazer, paired with dark wash high rise jeans or chinos. Mainly for meetings with biz owners or architects, contractors, engineers, gov officials, etc. Virtually no one, other than elected officials or Dept heads wear suiting. Engineers, architects, planners, code enforcement folks, developers and 99% of city staff mainly wearing the lululemon athleisure type trousers, polos and quarter zips. I'm in a smaller midwestern city, but since I've gotten more intentional about jawns, it's been interesting to note that its the rare MF'r I see wearing anything other than relatively upscale mall brand stuff. Ultimately, no one gives a shit. And if they do, who cares. Jawns is niche. Dress for yourself. Obvs, if you live in a bigger city, YMMV. Out here in the sticks, it's Von Maur and Dillards and Nordstroms all the way down. Cremieux. Cole Haan. Perry Ellis. Hickey Freeman. Murano. And MAYBE the oddball local suit shops that sell their own brand.

Looking for cheap-ish clothes
Def eBay. You have to live with idea that you will have some hits and misses. The price makes it palatable. Typically if you end up with something unseen re: stains, smell, etc... you can rectify with a little laundry research, dry cleaning, or just airing things out. Also worthwhile to have things tailored or altered to fit your frame. All kinds of great vintage Polo, Brooks Brothers, etc... that in many cases are preferable to what you'd get today from same brands. On the other hand, J Crew, Banana Republic, Uniqlo, Madewell, Abercrombie & Fitch, all go on sale frequently if you are looking to buy new. Or better yet, don't be like me. Be intentional and buy one of something you'll have forever rather than 6 lessor versions of the same thing. Sometimes it takes some trial and error thought to figure out what that is. A Drakes Coverall Jacket or a Manresa Bittner, a Carhart, a Dickies, a Ralp Lauren Hunting Coat, a vintage J Crew Barn Coat, etc. Three pairs of Gap jeans or some selvedge denim from 3Sixteen. etc.

Non Slip Soles on Loafers
Thanks for the feedback. I had a meeting yesterday in another buidling, tile, marble floors, reminded me of water skiing in my youth. Had the unfortunate experience of seeing myself "walking" in reflection of a window. Looked like I was 94 years old with osteoporosis. HOWEVER, just taking them out on the streets did make a diff. I'll have to see how they break in, I may opt for the Topys for peace of mind. THANKS FELLAS.
