Hey @amadeus, So the last Shipped RHINO is #0090 on 2023-05-04 Average waiting time from preorder to shipped is 161 days, median is 196 days, max is 219 days 89 Rhinos are shipped in total
I'm currently trying out a design that is closest to this. It still uses a pulley but the pulley has a cross drilled hole and the cable wraps around both sides of the hole. I could have gone with a much smaller pulley but this design gives me around 13:1 gear ratio which seems overkill as is. Who knows if it will work though I couldn't model the cable in CAD, but it is anchored and tensioned around the back side of one of the edge pulleys (you cant see it but there is a hole where the tensioning bolt will be right behind the top edge pulley. The other side of the cable is wrapped around another edge pulley and fixed in place. This gives 50 degrees of rotation so I'm still limited by the gimbal arms.
I've come to realize with the Rhino that yeah FFB effects are cool & great for immersion, but the real strength of FFB (anything) is the ability to customize the feeling of the device, like the Rhino, per config/aircraft we can change the length of throw of the stick, the feel of weight etc. all sorts of nuances of the aircraft stick feel, as with ffb racing sim, pedals & even gear shifters can be ffb, you can have basically whatever type of shifter you like all in one unit. FFB throttle would be awesome for so many reasons, yeah AP, ATC etc. obviously but also things like detents for idle, AB etc. I truly believe all the major simulator peripheral companies out there need to get back to FFB.
isnt the mythical TECS supposed to have electronically defined detents? the way it read to my very big lack of understanding it sounded like u set a detent in software, and the physical throttle detents are adjusted to reflect what was set
what would be really cool is for a throttle to, because of ffb, be able to emulate being rail as well as the one we primarily see (I forget the technical term)
We don't have too many rail throttles these days, main one that comes to mind is the T.16000m throttle. I know TECS was supposed to come in two variants one rail and one what we're used to seeing.
If the effect of both could be emulated with FFB and you just choose which you want via software + change its feel that would be a very nice feature
if after so many years it isnt magically the best throttle ever that is immaculate and with all the features one would ever want people will be upset. vkb cant just show us something, give us bullet points of features, and underdeliver after 7+ years
I'd love to see Virpil put their newer joystick base tech into a new throttle though.
Are you sure that’s what it meant? They show the Taurus moving by itself, so I kinda took the new one moving under the cover to just be a sort of metaphorical “waking up”
If that is the case that's lame af. ppl need to get back to ffb, it's so much better, watching those ffb sim racing pedals too just sorta confirms it, also ffb gar shifters too.
https://youtu.be/lDGeQ_eyqEw Here's one of the FFB shifters. Similar story to the Rhino in terms of how it is made and the scale of production and pricing
This is the first active shifter with actual servo motor to unlock the gears slots only with the clutch and can be the perfect tool for polishing real driving skills! It can be used as Dog Box and SQ shifter as well and can be train for each individual car and open the gear slots in specific RPM window! You can find more here from- https://mvhst...
The new SRT Gearbox V9 is out now ! It is a new milestone in terms of reliability, features and experience. Find out what is new. If you follow me on Facebook, you probably already know that for personnal reasons, I won’t have so much time in the coming months. That’s why there isn’t a […]
Another question: I don't know if I broke anything when installing Virpil stuff, but I think TelemFFB gave me FFB effects in Bf109 but I don't get any at the moment? Fw190 for example works without a hitch, but 109 has a limp stick throughout. I really need to try getting TelemFFB working with just the python version - for the moment I'm not sure how to install whatever dependencies it needs
my take on the WW throttle video is, it isn't hard to hope winwing does something more than basically just the same thing with slightly updated internals or just a F15E version.
Looking at the impressive and unique things they have done lately it has almost become commonplace to expect something amazing.
Viper throttle, joystick with haptics, force sensing, collective, a second generation of their entry level hotas, a front panel for the f18, these are all amazing things no other big company is doing for consumer level. Sure there's some one off stuff that is for enthusiasts with bigger banks, and for people who diy their own cockpits, but no one anywhere is doing what winwing is doing.
I can only imagine how long they've been working on and developing a successor to their throttle.
Man I'm thinking I should sell my Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle before it's rendered obsolete. I've got the new revision and it's nice, but FFB just makes everything better.
As long as they improve on the new taurus, it'll be a day 1 buy for me, since I love the current one so much. I bought the taurus in early 2020 and to me it's honestly the best throttle on the market (or was in this case)
Yeah 100% I wouldn't go selling anything or planing sim pits around the fact that the new WW throttle will be FFB. I'm likely just projecting my own wishes onto it, but, why make those throttles move like that at the end? if it was only to show the new set "coming alive" it's a bit misleading, it could be to gauge interest from the sim community, also they are known for doing a lot of f18 gear & one of the f18's features is auto throttle. Let's hope it is ffb to some degree, hopefully they make it.
I think it has to be FFB. Otherwise why would they have that whirring sound. It implies something electronic. I’ll eat my hat if it turns out to not be ffb
Yeah I mean, why not? it'd be such an awesome feature & as they make a point of in the video, it was a very well loved unit so why not improve it & release a v2.0 & having the ATC feature work would be a really cool thing to add. On a half related note, I hope they release an A-10 throttle grip to go with the Orion 2 & the new throttle too, unless I'm mistaken the a-10 throttle grip is the same as the f15e too isn't it? I mean they really would be living up to their logo then, ultimate warthog killer then there's be no reason left to buy a TM warthog throttle anymore.
For future proofing I hope they do a few things with the new throttle.
Aside from aforementioned things it should have support for multiple throttle grips. Imagine having the F-16 throttle grip + gate on it? Or a COLLECTIVE grip. This needs to be a thing. Give existing owners even more of a reason to upgrade.
Also if they do an F-15E/Warthog throttle grip, I hope they work on more panel stuff that isn't just F-18. F-16, F-15E, A-10 panel stuff would be amazing.

We will be out of stock till approx 10.June.2023 untill new batch of electronics arrive :-( I hope you have patience to wait. Of course, chip shortages are the reason of this outage - ordered more than a year ago and still waiting :-( We even redesigned electronics for different chip but abandoned the idea as chips finally ,almost, arrived Than...
Before I board my plane what can I download to start looking at how to install the rhino and bind keys and adjust settings. I fly dcs helicopters and msfs helicopters only.
Hey m8, not too sure what you can do to 'get ready' for the Rhino. What you need is the VPforce Config software, also for DCS (soon msfs too) the Telemetry app will give you ffb effects for all the aircraft, you can tweak this further later, if I understand it right it only adds effects it won't overwrite any native ffb effects from the module. MSFS currently needs paid 3rd party software most ppl use XPForce though there are other options, the VPforce telem app is being worked on for msfs compatibility too, should be released soon. The VPforce Loopback app is also handy, if you have a grip that doesn't plug directly into the Rhino base i.e. VKB grip with passthrough adapter, or a custom grip that has it's own usb, you can use the Loopback app to make the sim see the grip & Rhino as one unit, can also use HID Hide too if you want to hide the grip from being seen by the game too.
the DCS heli's force trim should 'just work' otb with the Rhino, just make sure in DCS settings you have the FFB enabled (obviously) but also special settings for each heli & make sure the force trim is set to default, not no spring & FFB, that should read 'no spring or FFB'. Trim in general should work too for warbirds etc. If you use a mod aircraft like the blackhawk you will need to add it to the Telem app config, but also in the VPforce config software you need to bind buttons for force trim in the 'Effects' tab
