I just got done flying the excellent freeware A-29B for DCS (https://github.com/luizrenault/a-29b-community). I have an entry for it in the TelemFFB user config file if that matters... I just looked at the log after completing a flight, and there are mulitiple "simconnect?" messages interspersed with DCS effects -- e.g.:

the log message is unnecessary.. unless you actually Are trying to fly MSFS in which case it could be indicative of a problem.

Was suggested I post here. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong but I’m really only feeling the constant effects I put in and some of the more haptic effects from telemFFB or something. I fly spit, 109 and F-1 mostly, which is what I’ve been testing in. The only non stick vibration-type effects I’ve felt have been on the f-1 while I’m taking off (stick moves around as I get up to speed) which was super cool. Posting in my settings. I fly DCS only

Unsure about DCS but I get a lot of the same in many IL-2 Great Battles aircraft, like when expending all airspeed in a vertical climb, the ailerons, X axis, go limp, but Y axis, the elevators/pitch, still has strength in it so I can't gauge it as well.
Was never an issue with the MSFFB2, and I've adjusted periodic, spring, dampner etc to try to isolate the issue, alas no go.
The Spitfire MKVb is the best one so far, probably the best FFB I've felt in IL-2 Great Battles on the Rhino, on the other side of the spectrum there's the Nieuport 17, Camel, DR.1, P-51 etc, elevator, Y axis, feels like the same constant pressure going top speed as it does at stall speed, with only rumble/rattle/shake as warning when I stall and no airspeed queue's at all.
War Thunder's FFB is non existent apart from arbitrarily shaking at the weirdest of times, while IL-2 CloD (once FF files are modified with Fedit) and IL-2 1946 so far has hands down the best over-all feel for all their aircraft.

I dont see anything abnormal in your settings. You haven't said what your expectations are yet, only that you aren't achieving them.

Taking the TelemFFB effects module out of the equation...

The first indication that DCS is "talking FFB" to your device is that the stick will go limp as soon as DCS starts. When you load into a module, depending on the type of module and how it implements FFB, the stick will take on those characteristics. If you jump into a warbird cold and dark or sitting at the end of the runway ready to take off, your stick should be flopping around. If you hot-start in the air, there will be spring tension.

If you jump in a FBW jet, the stick will just a have a constant spring force.

Sry. Yes. I’m expecting to experience more and stronger FFB effects as I fly around. Especially having to pull harder on the stick to get out of a dive.

I just experimented with turning up the periodic effects and turning off the constant effects. Turning off the constant effect seemed to help. In the 109 I was seeing a marked different between on the ground and flying at speeds. However the pitch behaviours is still very different than I expected. I a dive there is more resistance in a roll than in pitching (pull out of the dive).

fwiw -- sometimes when i launch DCS, just no FFB works at all from the game (telem will work fine, but for some reason the game just decides not to send me any FFB). usually i have to just kill it and re-launch it

That makes sense from a physics standpoint, the ailerons are father out from the CG and smaller surfaces. The elevator is centerline and larger. The elevator will also maintain effectiveness through a pull, where one wing will stall sooner in a roll

I had this happen when I ran the dedicated server as another instance of DCS, if I run it after I start the main instance, it takes over the ffb - of course giving you no effects since the server doesn't climb into a plane. That's a pretty fringe use case, though.

Hi, just got my Rhino and wow what a beast, compared to the Gunfighter base! Just mounted it on my rig. Now I'm trying to get it working with FS2020. For the FFB, do I still need XPForce or does is work with TelemFFB? And does some have some good baseline settings for FS2020? thanks

You need TelemFFB. The configuration app... configures the Rhino. TelemFFB provides effects for DCS and to a lesser degree, MSFS (which does not have any native FFB).

There are several aircraft in the config file for MSFS, but I had to add an entry into the MSFS helicopters section of the user config file to get the Cowansim MD500E to work right -- otherwise TelemFFB would stop working almost immediately.

BTW this apparently isn't obvious at first but don't edit the config.ini file -- copy it to config.user.ini and edit that. And -- don't forget to copy that somewhere so that it doesn't get blown away when you install a newer version and delete the old directory... I do not recommend just copying a new version into the same directory that the older version is at, although someone here does that with no issues in this particular case. It's just not a good idea in general for apps/data (e.g. community aircraft, scenery, etc.).

I currently have mine mounted to a large sheet of thick, quality plywood, but it's a bit cumbersome to move around, so I was looking into getting a dedicated seat setup for it and wondering if mounting it to the frame was worth the hassle

one unanticipated benefit of having mine mounted the way it is, is that the vibrations are transmitted through the profile frame and thus in the seat. It's pretty cool. I have an NLR HF8 haptic seat pad but decided it was redundant.

I don't fly combat much, and so I don't yank and bank nearly as much as some people. In fact, I've never heard the Rhino's fans come on. But then, I mostly fly helicopters.

Have you considered running it without the extension? I have two 100mm ones but they're in the closet. Almost purely by accident, the Rhino went on my setup perfectly without having to mess with anything...
