Athe LGO PM who dropped by the ChimeraOS discord mentioned that they had talked to valve, and valve had refused working with them because Valve was busy at the time. (in hindsight, it was clearly the Deck OLED that they were busy with)

Mthe most I’ve seen valve work with third party, unaffiliated devs has been integrating stuff into Proton or Gamescope.
Athe ayaneo could actually be real steamos, considering how the deck OLED is now out, and Valve did say their next goal is to support other handhelds

XI have a Win600 and it's pinned to SteamOS 3.1 unless you install bazzite
Abut this is all speculation on my part.
MMy other theory is that they tried to match a steam deck’s internals as much as possible to brute force steamos on there
