and if it is a prebuilt then just plan your next build ahead of time

i prefer whatever works for the tasks i try to accomplish, back in 2009 nvidia was the better option in linux, now it is amd and intel while nvidia is currently the worst (unless you do cuda stuff specifically)

That's just temporarily, AMD has always been superior in CPU's so i dont doubt they will comeup with something better as nVidea soon or in near future....

I disagree with this take, raytracing can be way more transformative to game visuals than any raster perf increase at this point of 'diminishing returns'.

The only good thing about Nvidia is it led me to discover ublue before I upgraded to an amd :p

The time of RayTracing will start when 99% of user computers are all using GPU's that support RayTracing, untill then all games will support non RT just to be able to sell to those users also...

I bought a new system just because i was fed up with the Broadcom driver in my old MB not allowing me to setup an WiFi-AP...
But now im screwed again by Intel due to AX210 on my MB and their driver disables AP's in any higher as 2.4GHz... FU Intel+nVidia from my side...

Do they really though? Unless by 'supporting Linux' you mean - somebody cares to test whether it launches in Proton properly.

We shouldn't hope that their "end" is coming soon at all. We should just hope for more open source technologies allowing us to be agnostic with what hardware we choose. Intel is already very good at this front along with AMD

Intel is smarter as nVidia in that aspect because it sees it end if it doesn't support Linux sooner as later...

Example Intel is STILL doing STUPID stuff with Linux drivers (AX210)
