Yeah I use the VKB adapter. The warthog adapter I bought doesn't seem to have enough threads to prevent the stick from rotating, I'll order an official one from Virpil. Is that what you're using?

Hello all and greetings from Greece. I really consider buying the Rhino, as a Microsoft ffb2 user until now!!! (yes dinosaurs exists

) , and thinikng that i will miss ffb very very much, but i have a couple very simple questions to make if its not much trouble... The grips are still under their software or are depending on the rhino software? The rudder axis still usable? As i see the weight of the Rhino is about 6-7kg and during the flights and the use of ffb forces might go up about 5kg if i am correct, so the desk mounts are a solid solution or a more rocking solution is needed? Thank you very much for your time

Ok so as promised here is a short write up on the SimFab DCS edition with a custom rhino mount Dimitar put together for me. I will focus on the Rhino integration because there is probably a lot of info on the rest of the SimFab setup. I will say though that all of the mounting solutions and tools were well organized and everything came together solidly, I am very happy with it so far. The hardest part was getting the seat back on to the seat lol.

As for the Rhino integration, Dimitar supplied me with a spacer and doubled up plates to be clamped on to the rudder tube part of the seat frame. This so far has worked perfectly, idk if he’s a genius or very lucky, but all the dimensions of how the rhino fits with this solution are super tight, the seat adjuster is barely not touching it, the standard stick travel is jussstt beginning to touch the cushions on the limits inside the seat cutout, and the pulley of the flipped Rhino base just clears the bottom of the seat. It is also trivial to access the cable connections in the large space under the seat with the installed risers.

The length of the Rhino with a direct mounted TM Warthog grip was too low to be comfortable in this setup, however, my Virpil T50CM2 grip that finally arrived alleviated the issue pretty much completely, since the height from the mount to the bottom of the palm rest (which is adjustable) is much longer than the TM Warthog. This brought it up to a much more usable height, and I think it’s pretty close to optimal, maybe a bit higher would be nice. Only issue with my setup is that I kind of run into my right thigh with the T50s palm rest when going hard right roll, but that is likely due to me putting the right side mount grip over the seat, I can just adjust it out and likely have no issue at all.

Was just on the phone with him and waiting on a call back atm. That looks like he ran my setup, but without you having to grind that bolt, because of that spacer. I run a short extension to use multiple grips, so that wouldn't work for me, but it looks good

For sure. The extension I run is usually not set above like 40mm. It's 100% only there to allow me to use any grip I want, since RS hornet, TM WH, Virpil Alpha, and Virpil Tomcat are all different heights. Also planning to add Virpil WarBrd to the stable as a B8 stand in (I don't have a problem, you have a problem :P)

I don’t fly the Apache. I have it, but I’ve never done more than fart around the pattern with it.

What does the virtual stick do in response to trimming and SAS inputs? I assume your talking about trim other than normal force trim.

In general though…DCS is severely lacking in exportable telemetry at the aircraft system level.

The AFCS implementation for the MSFS H145/160 works well because there is data available to emulate the trimming motors and the developer provided hooks for me to be able to send specific events so the heli knows when a user is overriding the stick position.

I think the SAS in the Apache is mixed in after the cyclic (and pedals/collective) input, so you as the pilot don’t feel the controls move with SAS interactions

I think Carlos is right. For the Apache, leave the force trim settings in VPConfig alone and use the DCS keybinds. You can't use curves on your stick axes with a FFB stick or it gets all weird.
