Thanks for your input. So the reason why I ask about this plane specifically is that the FFB for F14 in DCS was touted to be the best even before we were all saved by TelemFFB. From your sentence I do not quite see how would TelemFFB differentiate between F14 (non-fly-by-wire) and F18 (FBW), but presumably that is integrated in the flight models themselves?

Okay, I guess the next step is to learn how to create per-plane profiles for MSFS.

telemFFB (for DCS at least) does not run the actual FFB, that's handled by the sim itself. TelemFFB runs the additional effects that can be provided through the motors, which are not provided by the sim.

FBW FFB is (depending on jet) kind of just like running the Rhino in spring mode, the hornet at least has a little bit of realistic tension gradianting when it's commanding G though, which ime makes it feel better to fly on than a traditional gimbal

You can edit the gain curves in the software, but too much opposing force in the middle and you'll get oscillations.

What about toe brakes, any resistance added to them? Usually pedals are too soft and hence makes braking too sensitive.

In real planes the stick is what gives you feedback in flight, but rudder pedals not much, they get stiffer with speed, that is all, no pedal buffeting when stalling, only stick, so if they can have the toe braking power giving more resistance that would be great, but feeling the stall, and many of the other effects in the pedals would be a bit unrealistic in the case of airplanes.

I'm the same and focus on older gen modules vs fly-by-wire. FFB is all that and a bag of chips. First thing I noticed was the visual/audio queues built into DCS to inform the player they are pushing max AOA etc occur later than what you feel with FFB. It isn't a huge gap, but it is significant. It is something you have to feel (no pun intended) to understand. I have been inefficiently over controlling modules for literally decades thinking I was riding the edge only to discover I was robbing myself of turn performance the whole time.
