LI currently have it mounted via an extended desk clamp and it can wobble a bit, trying to figure out a more stable mounting solution right now

LButton remapping question. I got a shorter grip and extension today with fewer buttons. I want to map helicopter trim, release and override buttons (on the Effects page) to match the button numbers in my other grip. But it seems that the Effects page disregards the mapping and assigns the physical button instead. Am I missing something?
LFor example: I mapped button 7 -> 1. But when I hit the button, "7" still shows on Effects tab above

I'm happy - and surprised - to report that the thump I heard and felt no longer occurs with my new shorter grip & extension even if I turn spring force to 100%. So it seems Rhino was not to blame.
TWhen using force trim in DCS, the further from center I am, the further it sets the center away from actual stick position. Then the stick jumps to the "center" In the screenshot, you can see where the stick is vs where it sets the center. It does this on game ffb or the sofware force trim overide mode.
Tsolved it. If you have any kind of curve or saturation set in DCS, when you hit trim it does this. Reset DCS axis tune to default and it stops.
SI've got a Thrustmaster grip on the rhino, as a "generic grip". The hat is not recognized by windows, but is represented as a button press. How can I map this as a "hat"?
LIs it normal for there to be quite a bit of play in the stick even with max spring force? I'm trying to have the stick be as stiff as possible unless trim release is pressed for flying helicopters.
HIf there is any play in my stick, it’s not noticeable. Not sure if the play you’re talking about is mechanical or some sort of digital play due to software or a module’s FFB implementation, but I fly the F-14 with max spring forces and I can make tiny instant corrections by barely moving my fingertips.
LYeah, you wouldn't be able to do that if there wasn't any play in the stick. I want the stick to be as immovable as possible unless trim release is pressed which is how helicopters with force trim systems work. I am just curious if being able override the spring force with not much effort even at max strength is normal or not.
FHi @walmis my VPforce Order #889 arrived but without the throw limiters to restrict the stick deflection. Were they supposed to be included or ordered separately?
FHi @walmis Looks like the throw limiters are separate items. If ordered do they come as a single angle or do they come as a set with various angles to choose from?

HI tried to setup the edge and the extra300 mods in dcs. While not having any problems with other aircraft and dcs helis the joystick does not recenter on both planes. There seems to be no spring force. Any ideas?

H@Touch_Of_Legend if I get figured it out I will will post it here. I get all telemffb effects- even the g-effects which can mimic the the spring force but it is not the same.
NThose mods don't support FFB so you'll have to set up a configurator profile with 'sticky spring' enabled to get the spring to activate.
To my knowledge, there aren't any mods that do. I believe the FFB is part of the SDK which you don't get access to unless you are a contracted developer, or, no mod developer has ever taken the trouble to do it.

HThank you, than I will try that. In the new OH-6A mod it works, but probably you or some else has set up the default profile with sticky spring. Have a nice weekend!

H@Touch_Of_Legend spring works now with the sticky spring, but rudder jumps around like crazy in both planes. It does work in all other planes... So I gave up for now.
NDo you have FFB pedals set up? What do you mean the rudder jumps around?
HHYes ffb rudder. This happen if I give right rudder from neutral and release it after that.
NTurn off the pedal trimming feature in TelemFFB if it’s enabled. I don’t know how or if that will work with mods like that.
Sproblem solved: looks like i accidentally set telemFFB to simulate it as a helicopter :MurmKek:
N@harry yeah.. turn off the trim option for the pedals. These mods don't accept input via the export script commands the same way the official modules do.

HUnfortunately the flight model is not ready yet. They made the last update in 2021, so I have no hope, that it will be finished soon. I would love to train aerobatics with it....
IRe installed IL2 and tried the Rhino, works good and I like the effects, but joystick feels slow like when there is no Telem in DCS, not very natural and slow to react which makes it difficult to be precise, it does get stiff at speed but when I slow down I can feel a sudden change in the stick were the resistance becomes weaker suddenly, no progressively like DSC, any ideas how to make it work better?
NProper simulation of the flight dynamics during aerobatic maneuvers is likely to be extremely difficult and AFAIK, nobody does it very good. MSFS is laughable.
I wonder if anyone else remembers Flight Unilimited from the mid-90s. It was a dedicated aerobatics simulator with an Extra300, Sukhoi, Decathlon, Pitts and a Grob sailplane I believe. As I remember it, the flight model relating to characteristics during and after stall was superior to any sim I've flown since then. Keeping in mind that was 20+ years ago and memory has a way of becoming whatever it wants over time

HI remember flight unlimited. It was fantastic (in my memories) and yes for aerobatics fs2020 is bad. I hope that fs2024 is better. In dcs I think the Christen Eagle and the Albatros are very good. Someone told me the edge 540 is better than the extra and I will try it end of the week. The yak is also good and but sometimes falls in a state similar to the extra today.
Steleffb question: not sure how much difference it makes but for the ka-50 do i set the rotor blade count to 3 or 6? i mean it has 3 per rotor but it also has 2 rotors
NThe only thing the blade count is used for is in the calculation of the frequency for the engine/rotor and ETL/overspeed rumble effects. Doubling the blade count would effectively double the frequency of the effect
VThat was by looking glass studios or something right? i seem to recall the splash screen. It was way ahead of its time in graphics too. Anyway, there is one sim that I currently fly that has as good or better flight dynamics, and thats condor. Soaring only though. But especially in VR, its as close to the real thing as you will get without a G forces. The amazing thing is that its developed basically by one guy in his spare time. Dont expect fs2020 graphics, but it looks good enough.

I was flying in DCD (Mirage F1) - having a blast with it - and was tabbing back and forth between DCS and the VPcontrol software. Adjusting and testing different gain levels. Everything worked fine and suddenly the stick went all limb and dead (I briefly heard the reconnect chime).
When I looked in the control software, everything was gone. All effects unchecked, all gains zeroed, calibration reset. (Unfortunately I didn't export my settings in a conf file - lessons learned.
So far it was a one off occurrence. Any ideas what happened? Did I just crash the software or could it be some kind of hardware issue? ty

WMy guess is you didn't "Store" the configuration. "Apply" only sets the configuration in RAM and it resets to last stored configuration on restart.
HNo, this lesson I learned already, I pressed apply and store frequently - after each adjustment basically. After the Stick went dead, I couldn't load the configuration from it neither....
Hmind that really everything was gone. Not only my latest adjustements, but everything. It was basically erased...
HI might also add, that the stick itself was fine. After I re-applied all my settings from memory (and this time saved a .conf file...), the Rhino worked fine again.
