MAnyone have work around settings to smooth it out in the F-4? I set to 200%, but it felt terrible, and the trim seemed crazy skewed forward, like at no point was I flying in a comfortable position without extreme nose up attitude

MSee there is a lot of discussion around this already - does anyone have any General tips about how to set the rhino up with basic functionality to work with the f4? (So far tried to use the f14 profile within Telem as the base to tweak and the rhino/FFB still feels a bit weird)

SDoes dcs modules automatically override spring and damper forces? Or do o have to manually adjust them in the vpf software? Like to get as close to the real life F-14 stick as possible, what settings would y’all recommend?

Athe settings in settings pretty much determine what is for example the maximum spring force available to the game
Ain the effects tab you can set effects to be "sticky" in which case they override the game
NDCS generally doesn't do anything with Damper/Friction/Inertia/Constant. Only Spring and, in some cases Periodic.
So to your question, those types of effects will generally stay at whatever you have them set for in configurator.

NYeah, its best to think of all the places you can set a value for an effect as a series of factors. Its

Nso if a module said "give me %50 spring", and you had your spring effect set up at %50 in configurator, it would result in %25 of the actual maximum force the joystick could provide
SAaah okok that clarifies things up. So that being said though, I have spring set to 100%. In the F-14 I feel 100% spring force at all times. This feels incorrect. Sticky setting is not checked. Is there something els that may be off? I fell shake when buffeting so I know DCS is talking to the base.
A3D printing really has a steep learning curve particularly if you get one of the cheaper printers. It will be very frustrating at times, it all comes down to very tight settings and tolerances. You can get around that by spending 800 dollars on a printer with all the bells and whistles, they require less manual setup. But that is also what the joystick costs. If you decide not to print yourself, it is probably just as economical to buy a manufactured one from VPForce.

SSee I fly it a LOT, but I just got FFB and mount set up last night lol. HB states it is dynamic and modeled so I think I’m doing something wrong lol

NOther seasoned Rhino owners who fly it often could probably tell you more what to expect, but it doesn't look like the actual spring force is dynamic at all. It is always

MF14 doesn't have dynamic forces IRL. F4 control system is quite unusual, at least among other jets in DCS.
MThe Harrier would also be like that if Razbam implemented Q-feel, but they didn't.

MBobweights are a different thing, and not simulated in dcs until f4.
MTbh i don't think the effect of bobweights translates well to our 1g desktop sim environment. I mean in general. But you can add that effect through telemffb if you want.
NI actually like the bobweight effect on the F-4.. it feels better to me than what we do in TelemFFB with the constant force "g effect". They are using the spring center offset to achieve the same effect. It is too sensitive around 1G though which gives a weird sensation of the stick forces changing with minimal control input. They need to add some non-linear component to the calculation or add some dampening to the calculation or something.
SCool, I haven’t set up telemffb yet. I know telem can be used to set up vibration and cool effects like that. Can it be used to add more spring tension dynamically? If not what are some good settings to use to get close to the RL F-14 stick?
BDon't those settings depend on what you have set in Configurator? E.g. I have Master Gain set to 50%; I haven't touched it in months. My understanding is that that, and all other settings in that app, are what TelemFFB can only further scale down (not up). So your numbers might not work for me if you have different Configurator settings than someone else.
CYou should feel the trimmed/center position in the F14 with FFB is very forward of normal center.

CIt’s how the real center position is. If you look in the cockpit stick, you’ll see it that way
CI just spent some time really re-doingg my stick Balance Spring, and then set the F4 to 200/200 gain in-game and have a slight "Sticky" Damper and Inertia in the VPForce software, and it's was a lot smoother in freeflight than before. There's still some weirdness wobble in slight trim dives and I don't know if that's the F4 or me but overall a lot better for me.
