LI thought I would chime in also. Mate brilliant questions you asked and actually very relevant. I can perhaps help you get up to speed from just a customers perspective. I am not in anyway affiliated with Walmis or that amazing Rhino. I was however on the waiting list for about 8-9 months and only just received my Rhino about a month ago, I had been following along at every stage of the updates and progression for about 12 month. Researched the heck out of everything I could find on the internet over that period while I waiting. I have nothing but absolute confidence in what they are doing, how far they have come and the stability of the product and the support. My biggest concern honestly now that I have my Rhino, is getting enough time in the rig hahaha.

IYo. I have had the stick for quite some time now, but there are still some concepts i struggle to understand. Like all the enabled effects. Will dcs override (disable) effects that are not applicable for a certain module? Furtheremore. How does the gain play into all off this. I assume this controls the overall force applied to all effects? And from observing discussions here it seems that bigger motor / power is better? In my experience, full gain in combination with full centering spring is pretty much unusable (locks up the stick). I guess I am woundering how people really use the stick? Do they change (template) config when swapping modules etc?
AThe effects you see in the configurator are only defaults if the game doesn’t apply any effects — in other words, they will be overwritten by the game and/or telemffb. UNLESS you have Sticky checked on the effect, then it will ignore the game/telem’s effect.
As for getting settings right — this is mostly a personal thing. You should tune it how you want. I personally run with all the effects at 100% in the configurator (think of this as like a max limiter for the effect, it’s up to the game or telemffb for how strong it is) except for periodic effects at 50% and friction at like 7% (because friction can have weird vibration effects if overdone). Then I use TelemFFB to tune effects for individual aircraft, and the gain knob to turn down the spring effect if I find it too strong for a particular plane

SI'm struggling with getting the Rhino to work in XP12. It seems very inconsistent on when it actually works. I may have to restart TelemFFB for it to properly recognize.
SWhen it does work, I don't have full pitch authority and none of the force feedback seems to be coming through
SAlso, sometime when I load in a plane the stick doesn't correlate with the Rhino. I can see the movement in Bindings, but not in the aircraft.
HThink of the different gains as factors. Master gain x settings gain x effect gain. Where effect gain. an be overridden by the application. So basically with master and settings gain you determine the maximum strength of any given effect. (If one of those e.g. is set to 80%, the overall force can‘t be over 80%.) From my experience the threefold of friction, inertia and damping only works well with lower settings (<20).

RWould this be for sims that don't have FFB built in like DCS? I'm a DCS-only user, so would I set all the gain levels to max and let DCS decide how much to send through the stick? I sorta wish we had a suggested settings page for the sims, but I understand that could get quite busy
Athe challenge with that is that the suggested settings would depend on your grip/extension combination as well as personal preference

HI think, DCS (natively) doesn’t apply things like friction and inertia. Only spring and very limited periodic effects. If TelemFFB deals with friction and inertia? I doubt it. I believe those are more to make the stick feel to your taste. But I could be mistaken.
Ayeah -- i also am not sure if it applies stuff like that. to add though -- TelemFFB now allows you to add those specific settings on an aircraft per aircraft basis, so almost never a need to use the configurator to add effects unless you are playing a game that doesn't have any FFB or TelemFFB support
II just tested the apache with max gain, hoping that the module takes over and disables the spring force (enabled but not sticky). I am assuming that the apache works like other helicopters and that it has minimal «spring force.» Does not seem to be the case in DCS. With max gain, I can barely move the apache stick. Is this simply something DCS does not support? Can this be «fixed» in telemffb?
Pgames keep freezing when pedals connected. it is normally work in teleffb
Pit works joystick device test brakes are working as a TPR, Yaw Axis is working as a rhino pedals 2054.
Pbut when it is connected, game freezes. I unbinded all previous binding, but still mouse is not responding.
Psame result even though I turned off teleffb. so it is hardware issue

LOh awesome mate, glad you have seen that video and it was helpful, my intention is to really share how amazing the Rhino and its software is. The software is honestly what really makes this unit shine. As you would have seen, I was able to dial up the feedback past what is actually realistic, I want to feel road vibration, I want to feel the stick forces on landing. You have so many options to play with so you can tune the feeling of the stick to exactly how you want it to feel, realistic or beyond realistic as in my case hahaha. I had the stick pull out of my hand on one of my bush landings with the landing feedback cranked to 100%, sure, that's not realistic for a real pilot used to flying bush planes but for an average bloke like me, I am having a heck of a time in my rig. That's the beauty of the software, tune it how you want.

TBut no seriously if you search back to my post in the DIY section I took A LOT of pics from alternate angles and post A LOT of tips from the build including some wire photos and some photos that show the “proper orientation” or the gimbal slot and the motors.
TExample tip (see the photo).
This is how you wire the Emergency Stop switch.
Power (+) comes from the plug and goes to the C side of the Stop Switch.
Power (+) goes from the NC side of the Stop Switch to the main board.
Ground (-) goes directly from the plug to the main board.
Some small tips wiring like this (that aren’t in the manual) can be best explained in photos or be reading through other people’s builds and collecting a few choice reference photos.

I myself got stuck trying to be “too precise” at the centering part of the calibration set up..
Not realizing this ain’t no regular stick.
Not only can you can that later you can change it so it has more roll than pitch (like most normal airframes are in real life)
You can set it so you just sort of tune the spring and centering and the basic effects on the fly..
So yeah finding about the issues and fixes others had will also help with your own build.
Otherwise like I said never hesitate to post if you’ve got a problem or an issue.

BMakes a huge difference to have a builder and community that shares your priorities over say Brünner that spent like 6 years before they even added official support for dcs.
RGot a werid request. Currently no matter what I do as far as settings the stick is very bouncy. For example, lets say i am flying a helo and trip the stick to forward right position, I then hit trim reset and the new center is different. If i let the stick go it goes to center and then bounces around until it settles on the center and stabilizes. Another example, is you are trimming and set your new center, then let go of grip. The stick still has some bounciness or springiness until it settles. what do i set to take out the bounciness so it acts like a real cyclic using hydraulics, etc. I understand some of the limitations due to being belt driven, but there has got to be a way. My current settings are spring 80, damper 40, inertia 2.5, friction 8, adaptive centering enabled, static force, and balance spring.
RAnother thought is the adaptive centering is only 12% of max spring setting, can you give the user the option to increase this, especially for those flying helos when trimming is a constant thing so the centering hasa stronger force and is quicker to retain the new center. I'd be happy to beta test. @Number481
