Any way to tell if our rhino base will fully support the coming virpil flanker grip? Shouldn't be that much difference - but a mini-stick is new (and nice).

I'd say that, depending on the plane, you should be at the advantage as you can actually feel what the plane is doing and can react quicker

You’d have an advantage in feeling more of the plane like Sam says, but on the whole I think FFB is likely to put you at a disadvantage in competitive PvP scenarios

Spring base players can throw their stick around quickly and make full deflections, only limited by the strength of the springs they themselves have chosen

Chances are it comes down to your exact settings.
If you have heavy stuff, for example, I can see it getting more tiring, and faster.

Relatively light settings? Either equal, or slightly better (because you can feel the effects etc).

Not having feedback can mean you can throw the bird around. It can also mean you throw it into a problematic situation faster

Personally I like FFB for the same reason that I mainly do TvE in MP: it’s the additional feel of realism and immersion

Air quake isn’t fun or immersive to me personally, but if I were to do it I’d tune down the spring strength on my Rhino so I could actually keep up in the “stick deflection race” without having to worry about breaking anything

100% an advantage if you fly the plane like it's meant to. As in using proper tactics and techniques. You will be able to keep your head outside the cockpit knowing what your plane is doing by feel.
I've found that any maneuver that a non ffb stick has an advantage at is typically a last ditch effort and means you already most likely lost the fight.

This, the biggest advantage ffb gives you is feeling how your plane is reacting to your flying without having to look at your instrument panel especially in scenarios where you’re at that pre stall speed. I wish there were some non diy rudder ffb options to help with feeling when your aircraft is slipping or skidding.

I assume that aerodynamic force feedback via the stick could be useful to develop a feel for max rate of turn airspeed (while watching opponent across the circle), despite no stall shakes in that regime. Looking forward to finding out some day.

Sure. Next to the possibility of force trim, you can have all the same effects (like guns, stall shudder, ETL) like with the stick. Makes it even more immersive if stick and pedals are rumbling the same. My setup is on a moving platform and the engine/rotor vibration e.g. is felt through the whole contraption including my seat.

Well the FFB mod for the Crosswinds, there is no need anymore to remove the spring. Just have different profiles set for different Aircraft or change the setting on the fly.

There is no “spring” in FFB pedals (in fact, the conversion mod removes the spring). It’s entirely controlled in software. With TelemFFB there wouldn’t be any config to change between aircraft, you would just setup the pedals the way you want it to feel, and then everytime you fly that aircraft telemffb sets it up for you
