Video has come a long way since the social media age, and is miles more efficient and better looking than you could hope to achieve with gifs. It's a shame it's treated like a secondary format by the platforms still

Ya, it is. I assume it's entirely a bandwidth decision. Also the last rugged remnants of traditionalism
Anyhow, they tend to fit box-like column formats well.
Inside open brush they are currently easier to use, in general, even if not quite as sharp.
No reprocessing, can quickly open a bunch in browser tabs, easier to frame shots

gifs are bigger than the equivalent video file unless you're doing something very weird with your compression settings (or doing pixel art)

Also, can add them in the background without much overhead, which is something I've been thinking about a lot, though haven't used much
transparency would open up some interesting options

In terms of concrete feature changes from this - can i summarise?

Someone will hopefully play with the gif presets inside Unity and suggest some new presets
If I get feedback about the quality setting, then I will tweak that
Still need to pin down whether quality issues is related to post-processing or not.
I'm considering adding user presets to the config file so allow people to define their own gif presets.

I'd really appreciate improvements to the docs around video, gif and image export. I don't use it enough. You lot use it all the time - you can do a much better job of documenting it than I could.

Presumably, but then I have to step out, change the files.
Also also not sure about recording recordings, my computer didn't do well the one time I tried, but may have been updating, not sure.
As far as documenting, don't really have anything to add to what's in the original tilt brush documentation
I usually just hit the camera button and push record, haven't experimented a lot with it. Haven't done paths for a while.
As far as export, just goes in the documents/open brush/snapshots folder (or video) and grab it from there
If there was a square panel preset for video I'd probably use it.
Presumably most people don't shut off animations in their browser, and if it's an extra click you'll lose half your audience if its in a place like twitter

Chrome's autoplay policies are simple:

Muted autoplay is always allowed.
Autoplay with sound is allowed if:
The user has interacted with the domain (click, tap, etc.).
On desktop, the user's Media Engagement Index threshold has been crossed, meaning the user has previously played video with sound.
The user has added the site to their home screen on mobile or installed the PWA on desktop.

Where can I find the place in the code that it gives the titles "new_sketch ###" and "untitled ###"?
I relocate my image and sketch files from time to time
and would be nice not to have it use the same identifiers when I do that (duplicate file names)

frame delay seems to be "time between generated frames" - so essentially the frame rate

We might need a bit more info!

What headset? Standalone Quest or a PC headset (if so which one)?
Do other VR apps work correctly?
Can you take a screenshot of the controllers? Is the screen completely black?
Do you see the logo when it's opening up? Does Tilt Brush show the intro sketch?
