[2022-08-02 01:14:07 AM] : Took another L today, confused what to do next.
I posted in the slack about month ago about amazon SES banning our email tool. (context: getsaral.com is an influencer management and outreach tool, right now).
We pivoted to using the Gmail API and did a lot of back-n-forth with them over the last 3-4 weeks, spent dev time making the edits they suggested, etc. They finally approved us, but their approval comes with a third-party security audit requirement that costs "up to $75,000"... which is crazy. I asked around and it usually costs ~$20k but that's still way too expensive for a bootstrapped MVP stage product like ours....

an update on my work
[2022-07-26 09:16:04 AM] : an update on my work: earlier this year i set out to create a course consisting of 7 videos on certain topics. making the videos has been hard and i even gave up at one point although later i un-gave-up. today i finished video 6 of 7. only one more video to go and i can launch the course! feeling really good about finally being almost done.

[2022-07-25 10:47:48 PM] : This past Friday, I introduced a third "Ultimate" tier to Ruby on Mac, and I raised the 2 lower tiers by $10. From $19 to $29 and $49 to $59.
I got 3 orders of Ultimate over the weekend from new customers (as opposed to existing customers upgrading), but 0 orders today, despite 233 visitors. It's not completely unheard of though. I've had days with 100+ visitors and 0 orders, and days with double digit visitors and many orders. However, today is the first day in July with 0 orders.
How long should I wait to see the effect of this price increase? If I don't get any orders tomorrow as well, I think that would be an anomaly, and I would feel the urge to lower the prices back to where they were. Thoughts?...

[2022-07-19 12:48:21 PM] : Thanks for sharing itamar. I’m curious how you end up approaching the “thanks but no thanks”. I typically leverage two techniques. First is an outrageous rate, which more often than not will have them back pedal. But if I want a sure thing, then I just tell them straight up we won’t be a good fit for one another.

main thing I look for is how easy it is to export content if you wanted to move in the future, and their exporter lets you get your text content out....but not any images IIRC....

Hi! I want to share
[2022-07-09 06:01:08 AM] : Hi! I want to share with you a recent experience I had and a takeaway I think could help some others. I'll try to keep it short or break into a thread soon.
A while ago (like some years) I wrote a couple of blog posts about a subject I didn't find particularly interesting or complex: webservices usage with php. I did that since I had been asked to produce a live course on the subject for a training company. When they first approached me I thought: "Ok, I'll do it but... who's going to buy THAT?"
To my surprise, from all the courses I made for them, it was the best seller all along. And I can almost say the same about the hits to my own blog. These four or five post have definitely been in the all time top 10...

[2022-07-07 06:13:04 PM] : update on my work: i decided to add to my product offerings by creating some videos, then got frustrated with the video creation process and quit, then later decided i had made a poor decision and came back to the videos even though it’s not my favorite kind of work in the world.
today i finished my latest video which also happened to be the hardest one so far. but that makes 5 of 7 planned videos on the books, so 71% done. just two more to go and i can launch!...

[2022-07-05 08:46:50 AM] : James R That's a great question, and it's one I struggled with for my audience (frontend developers).
I think this amounts to lack of novelty. If you go in with the expectation that you'll be teaching what you already know, then obviously you won't be passionate about it because you're not learning anything new.
The solution might be to a) identify pains and questions that your audience struggles with, that b) you actually don't know the answer to....

[2022-07-05 01:05:19 AM] : How do y’all choose an audience that you’re passionate about? Even though I’ve been a ruby/web dev for many years, is it strange to not feel interested in that audience?

[2022-07-03 07:38:51 AM] : So I'm working on a book infoproduct that I plan to sell for $99 (to choose a nice, round number that is similar to existing products such as Refactoring UI).
How do you balance the writing of the book chapters against the marketing potential of posting the book chapters as blog posts online?
I feel like I could get a lot of attention (and most importantly, feedback) for individual book chapters, but that would also give my product away....

[2022-06-28 12:58:48 AM] : > Alex Hillman: [00:15:05] So think of our process that you’re going to learn for creating content marketing. Ebombs – sounds way cooler than content marketing- is practice for product building. You’re creating tiny little products that your audience is going to find, they’re going to consume, they’re going to use, they’re going to love, they’re going to share, and you’re gonna learn how to make sure all of that happens.
Amy Hoy: [00:15:26] Which then means that you’ll have a growing group of people who are really interested in what you have to say, who trust your advice, who share your stuff with their friends and who are primed to buy from you after part two, which is where you’re you’ll figure out exactly what type of product you can build that they will buy and how to launch it.Makes me think of fans. Could be a process to build a group of fans. a la “100 true fans”...

[2022-06-27 10:56:43 AM] : Hey yall
Just wanted to note some imposter syndrome / negative self talk happening with me. I’ve only been working on this stuff for about a week or so and there’s this huge part of my brain going “this is all a waste of time. you can’t do this. you’re never going to stick this through to the end. might as well quit now.”
Funny, huh?!...
