Switching from Wayland back to X11?

Posted earlier about struggling with my resolution being stuck at 1024p; turns out if I run it through my Processor I can increase it to 1920p, and after trying a bunch of stuff with my friend it appears to be a driver issue. It seems that X11 should support the drivers needed for my GTX 960, but we haven't been able to force the switch despite trying some things. Is this at all possible to do? Version Bazzite 42, Plasma, bazzite-nvidia...

Middle click to scroll is not working

Hey, on the Plasma edition middle click to scroll isn't working. There's a setting in Plasma for it, but that doesn't feel as nice to use (i.e. it requires constant mouse moving to move the content.) I've seen middle click to scroll on many other distros, so what's Bazzite doing?

disable scaling in fullscreen apps/games on wayland

can scaling be disabled on bazzite so that when running a game fullscreen and at a resolution lower than the display the game will be surrounded by a black border instead of stretching to fill the display? I know this is doable using gamescope but im using an nvidia card and games frequently just lock up whenever trying to use it. I've looked around and can't find much about this. Most i've found is that on x11 using xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --set ‘scaling mode’ ‘Center’ would achieve th...

Ayaneo Dock shows no external monitor in Bazzite. Not recognised in either game or desktop mode

Hi all, using the ayaneo dock with the ayaneo 2 I cannot get bazzite to detect my TV when the hdmi is connected. The port works fine on windows purely via bazzite. From the looks of things it's not detected at all.

Bad performance when waking the desktop from sleep

Hello! I use an Intel i5 10400f + 6700XT, 16GB RAM and an ASROCK Mobo. Bazzite works perfectly on it except when i try to use sleep mode. The problem starts when i resume from sleep: performance of the whole system tanks and my CPU just refuses to turbo boost (it becomes stuck at 2.9ghz instead of 4.0ghz). A restart fixes it, but it would be nice to have a working sleep mode since i use my PC in the living room. Is this a known issue and is there any fix? Thanks!

how do I setup arduino on bazzite?

I need to use an arduino for class, and I can't seem to get it to connect. I read up online and it says I need to add my user to the dialout group, but I already did that. Looking further, I might need to make the group, but I don't really know how to do that. My arduino uno wifi is recognized by the usb, but I can't connect to it through the IDE, I get an error: "not in sync: resp=0x00"...

external monitor low framerate in games, overall choppiness

On ASUS ROG ally X, im using a dock with 9060xt and external monitor plugged in. While gaming on the handhelds display, everything works fine and performance is right where it should be but when playing on external monitor, the frames go significantly down and GPU usage never gets under 100%. I checked all the hardware and cables, even used another monitor just to make sure and nothing works

Accidentally wiped grub (need to reinstall)

I just accidentally did sudo rm -rf /boot/efi/EFI. I don't want to talk about it... I now need to reinstall grub but I can't figure out how. I'm still in the system and I would like to shutdown soon-ish, quick help would be a godsend. ...
Solution:
just a summary if anyone ends up in the same situation as me you need to run dnf install grub2-efi grub2-efi-modules shim-\* in a fedora distrobox container then copy the /boot/efi/EFI/fedora from the container into your host after that you need to download the gen_grub_cfgstub script and run it like so sudo ./gen_grub_cfgstub "/boot/grub2" "/boot/efi/EFI/fedora"...

OS stuck at low resolutions (1024px max), can't figure out a fix

I'm currently hoping to avoid Windows' nonsense with Win10 EOL and similar shit, so I decided to try Bazzite 42 (KDE) after doing some research. I'm entirely new to playing around with Linux or anything related to it. I've been on a Win7 laptop for about a decade now and haven't had the funds (allocated) to upgrade, but over time my partner replaced parts in his PC, meaning all I needed was an SSD and an OS, so I felt free to experiment since my laptop will remain untouched. My goal is to be able to use this hardware to: browse the internet, watch YouTube, and play Steam games (I don't play super big highly graphically demanding games, I want to play Minecraft, Terraria, Balatro, etc). My immediate, biggest struggle has to do with the general Display resolution. The only options available to me are 640x480 (4:3), 800 x 600 (4:3), and 1024 x 768 (4:3). Which obviously does not look very nice lol. This is currently my biggest barrier and I haven't been able to find a solution, not in the Bazzite docs nor in any threads online......

Installing Java JDKs

Booting after install ignores grub

Hi, i just installed bazzite and on start-up i go directly into windows, without a choice or grub showing up, to access bazzite i have to go shift+restart and choose it in that menu, im using the same ssd with different partitions. Is there a config or something i missed to boot into grub? it doesnt show on bios either, and secure boot is off...

OOM Killer behavior

Hi, for one reason or another I sometimes run out of RAM (e.g. memory leak or programming error) after which the system completely freezes and becomes really hard to recover (moving the cursor at 1px per minute). Seems like the OOM killer is not kicking in even though it should. I read that people use https://github.com/rfjakob/earlyoom to kill programs earlier. Anyone have experience with setting this up in bazzite? Or other ways to improve the OOM killer behavior? Like, I'd be fine with it jus...
Solution:
I had a lot of lockup issues due to the OOM killer not kicking in fast enough. It typically does eventually kick in but I needed to patiently wait for up to 2 minutes for that to happen. earlyoom worked really well for me with a laptop that had 16GB of ram. In this case my machine was running Aurora-dx but the instructions below should work fine for Bazzite You can install it by layering it with ```bash...

Bazzite & Intel Arc B580 GPU

Hi everyone, I recently decided to turn Windows my back and wanted to give Linux a go and saw the Gaming Distro Bazzite, which would have worked perfectly for my purposes. I bought new hardware for a complete new gaming pc - and decided on a Asrock Challenger Intel Arc B580. Since I noticed that Bazzite does support Intel Arc GPUs, I did not really thought there will be a problem. Furthermore I read so many positive things about Linux and gaming in general and a lot of positive reviews about Bazzite. So, I thought this will work smoothly. ...

Vault Issue

So I was playing around with bazzite and saw a feature called vault, I made a vault just to test it out, but when I tried to delete it an error message popped up saying: "Cannot delete the vault; there are other vaults with overlapping paths." Tried changing the paths, it didn't work. I'm new to Linux and Bazzite

Sober will only open in the background*

Bit of a wierd one, for some reason Sober will only launch in the background. On the desktop GNOME edition, log attached (though unhelpfully, there seems to be no errors and it just gets stuck, at least from what I can see). This is where that asterisk comes in though. If you launch via the desktop shortcut, it opens in the background. If you launch it via the command line, it opens in the background. If you launch it via Bazzar, it works with no problems. What!? Shrugs ...
