MOTD show as "Can't connect to server" while the server is available
The logs doesn't show anything related to the MOTD, and i don't really know where to look,

Low TPS on 1.20.1 Forge server (~100 mods, 3 players). SOLVED: Valkyrien Skies memory leak
Hello, I am running a private Forge server for myself and my friends, but the server isn't performing well.
Symptoms:
After freshly restarting the server, the TPS sits at a healthy 20.0. But over the course of about an hour, TPS gradually drops down to 10 or even 5 TPS. From the Spark report, there doesn't seem to be any obvious offending mod causing the majority of the lag, nor are there that many entities loaded to result in such low TPS. My hardware should be quite capable of hosting just 3 players (i7-12700K, Samsung 990 Pro M.2 nvme ssd, DDR5 5600MHz memory)

Thanks for the response! These are good insights. However, I believe I found the true culprit after disabling mods one by one. Seems that Valkyrien Skies: Clockwork has a memory leak. Would explain why TPS starts at 20.0 after restart and slowly dips over the course of an hour. After removing Valkyrien Skies and Clockwork, server is maintaining 20.0 TPS for hours on end without changing anything else π

Making ice super slippery for minigame
Is there any way to make ice super slippery with commands or a plugin? I wanna make specific selected areas that have ice to be super slippery and you can only move in one direction at a time. I'm trying to replicate the ice mechanics/minigame in the ice gyms in gen 4 pokemon.
Minecraft Forge crashing with exit code -1

Bug on my server, can't figure out where it's coming from
My Server runs on Fabric 1.21.10. The API and the Fabric version are both the newest, the difficulty is hard etc etc. Now I have the problem that magmacubes don't drop anything anymore, no matter if killed by player or frog. I removed all my mods (except the API). Have you faced that problem? Could you perhaps test it?

Solution: The problem was a datapack for custom mob and player heads. It wasn't up to date.

How can I use MiniMessage in EssentialsX Chat?
So I have Essentials and EssentialsX Chat, along with LuckPerms. I have Runway bc KasaiSora said it was a good plugin, and it used to work. But I updated to 1.21.8 from 1.21.5 from 1.20.1, and it worked on 1.20.1 but not either 1.21. Is there some formatting that I forgot? It works in SimpleScore and TAB, but not EssentialsX Chat. To be clear, this is for the prefix and not for in-message formatting, but that doesn't work either.

Should I use Terralith on Fabric as a mod or Paper as a datapack?
Hey! I am currently setting up an SMP for a couple friends that will hopefully grow over time and I am worried about the performance of Terralith. Does it perform better as a Fabric mod or a datapack on Paper? Should I just skip Terralith to save performance?

Dealing with Freecam/Basefinder modules
Hey folks, I'm looking for ways to make freecaming/basefinder modules harder to use/less efficient on my survival paper 1.20.1 server.
I'm aware that the simplest and most rudimentary solution would be something like installing an ore obfuscator (aka antixray), but I also heard that pretty much all plugins of that sort have a seriously nasty effect on server performance. Are there any other ways to combat basefinding cheats? Are there any ore obfuscator plugins that are significantly better peformance-wise than others?...

Starting a SMP and gaining server staff.
Iβm currently developing my first server at the moment and I really donβt know where to start. I have spent the past week setting up and configuring in a dev server but I have no idea where to go from here.
Is there anybody here with larger servers(600+ members) who can guide me a little as Iβm really lost.

Update Question...
Not too long ago, I updated my MC server from 1.19.4 to 1.20.6...and I had asked about what order to do it in. I was stuck at 1.20.6 because one of our favorite plugins maxed at the version.
When Ihad asked before, people had let me know I didn't need to go up by one level each time, just up to the next major update.
So, now I am asking, to go from 1.20.6 to 1.21.8...which versions do I upgrade to in between them, to make sure things go ok? Thanks for any and all advice!...

Advertising and gaining players?
So I'm starting development of my Minecraft server again. However, the issue is that I need to start advertising so that on release we hopefully have 50β100+ players. I wanted to know how one would go about doing this, what the costs of advertising are, the costs of hiring someone to get these results, etc.
I also want to do short-form content on social media to advertise, TikTok, YouTube, X, etc. What would the average cost be per video, or if you hire someone else, how much would I be looking at to get promising results?
Has anyone done something like this before and can let me know from their experience or what they have seen in the past with other people?...
