big fat chunk cutoffs on server

is there anything i can do preloading aside? or how do i preload?

can i change the LOD save destination folder?

I want to save LOD data on my server to a different drive, so I'm not using up as much space on my main drive. is it possible to route the LOD data somewhere else? I'm using prism launcher and hosting the server through essential peer to peer with a large pre-generated world, I just don't have enough space for LODs on my main drive. i couldn't find any folder routing option in the configs

FPS lagspikes when connected to a DH server

I've been getting bad lagspikes when connected to a 1.21.5 fabric server running DH alongside Terralith, Tectonic, and a couple optimization mods. The lag is immediately solved when DH is removed from the client. The lagspikes still persist even when distant generation is turned off on both the client and the server. I ran a spark profiler on the client while DH rendering was off and this was the DH stuff I could find in the viewer. Was wondering if there was a way to fix this. Currently running the latest 2.3.2-b build....

I tried running the pregen command on my server. Missing/Duplicated Chunks

I just got my first PC after way too many years, playing with DH and shaders for the first time, etc. Anyway, I've been trying to get a singleplayer world going, but after two days of troubleshooting, I've arrived here, which is the best result I've achieved so far, but still has two major issues. First is a band at mid-range that isn't rendering in (but closer and further do). I thought it was a "wait and they'll load" issue, but several hours later and no other chunks loaded in. I saw in the FAQ that Chunky was not recommended, and I have used chunky to generate a 1000 radius circle, but even if I load with my player in survival, it still won't render, and it is always the same chunks that load/don't load. I see that you suggest "DH Internal Server Mode" but I don't really know what that is, or if this is a Chunky/DH issue to begin with, or that can be resolved. (By the way, resetting the world is not a problem since I haven't actually done anything on it yet.) The second is much stranger, and I haven't seen anything quite like this. At a high enough level, the terrain will vanish, and a second, identical world will appear far below it. It's positioned about -2k below and vanishes as soon as I get close enough to it. I have no idea what is causing that one. ...

Server crashing when flying (usually over new chunks)

This is partially answered in the FAQ but I just want full clarity on the entire situation and also perhaps any recommendations. When flying (90% of the time over new chunks) the server often lags heavily behind, and then crashes. Most likely just due to the server not being able to handle it, fair enough. Whilst LODs are present and are already loaded (due to the mod being on the server) they often fade out when trying to land and the server has to catch up and generate the actual real chunks. I ran the spark mod and the culprit was mainly DH so I removed that and the server runs fine now when flying around, still a little slow sometimes to load chunks but doesn't drop below 19 TPS. The confusing thing is the LODs are already loaded and there, for a decent size around our main play area even for areas we've never been (according to the loaded chunks show on BlueMap), so I would assume the server just needs to load the actual chunks and DH can rest easy since they already exist. Maybe its regrabbing them in case of anything new like buildings etc. Regardless, removing the mod from the server fixed it and clients still see as far as the eye can see with all the LODs previously synced....
Solution:
You can generate the area you want on the server, then offer the players a download for the DH database file

DH stops adding tasks when the player is stationary

I have a world file which was generated in 1.16. I've done "Optimize World" to convert the chunks into 1.21 format. When I join the world with Distant Horizons set to 256 chunk LOD distance it starts filling in the chunks with LODs up to a certain limit and then stops all tasks. How do I force DH to continue chugging without manually visiting the areas where the gaps are present?

Glass Panes within normal render distance turn to simplified blocks

As seen in the screenshots, when distant horizons is enabled, distant but still within normal render distanz glass panes get turned into simplified lod blocks. is there a way to disable this? Surprisingly, this is also applied to blocks that are just distant in the Y axis but even in the same chunk as I am. This is on a server but without the plugin, DH v2.3.2-b, MC 1.21.4...

It makes sense to render in a lower quality when something is further away, no matter which axis is further away on

Anyways to lower the amount of ram it needs or would adding more ram to the server be optimal

Complimentary Reimagined LOD Border

There is a sharp border in the shader between LOD chunks and the loaded chunks. I'm using a lower render distance because I need to match the server I usually play on's render distance or it creates a gap in the terrain.

Occasional completely broken LODs

Every few thousand chunks, I get LODs that are just a completely full chunk, it seems. I tried updating them by placing & destroying blocks in the chunks with max CPU Load but no luck. PaperMC server 1.21.4 (latest) without any server side mods, but iirc this has happened to me singleplayer as well. Never crashes my game. My specs (f3 menu) in last screenshot.

LOD still rendering even though I destroyed what it is displaying

The LODs that I have destroyed are still appearing even though I have destroyed the blocks that they are displaying. The second image is a zoom in from the same location. How can I stop these from appearing?

DH not rendering properly serverside+ServerReplay mod

Making players lag?

Hi, does distant horizons on the server side make players lag? I'm experiencing issues with my players joining and their ping is astronomical. There are only circumstances that when they join their ping is alright, but whenever they recon (after having 40ms stable ping) lag starts to happen. Are there any settings in the config I can tweak on bandwith threshold? THANKS

unable to pregen the world with the DH paper plugin

I ran /dhs pregen start overworld -900 70 125 512 (blank command is /dh pregen start <dimension> <origin> <chunkRadius>) and kept getting "unknown world" as the response. also, /dh isn't recognized as a command, it just asks me if i meant /dhs, even though that's what's stated in #faq-general

Followed all instructions game still crashes with shaders

singleplayer mode. i have tried multiple shaders clicking only the link from the compatibility list. namely i have tried bliss and proton others i cant rememeber tbh. this is the error message i get: The game crashed: unexpected error Error: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: 'java.lang.Iterable net.minecraft.class_1657.method_5661() ...
Solution:
Iris is crashing while trying to render armor trim(?), likely an incompatibility with other mods, not related to Distant Horizons.
