restart duplicate detection?

Hi, i have >70k files, many of which had fd up date data due to google photos download, which i cleaned up beforehand. Now, after enabling upload from my phone, all those same files have been uploaded without duplicate detection seemingly, and now i have 30k+ files in october 2024. It seemed to me like the duplicate detection of already uploaded files has stalled or did not work anymore, which is why i hit "clear", which turned out to be a mistake as i cannot find a way to restart the duplicate detection job. Ideally, i would want to re run it for all existing files....

Setting up Immich to store all photos and videos on my external harddrvie on Umbrel OS.

So I have a 2tb Umbrel home server and with the new files update this year and support for external hard drives. I want all the photos and videos that are backed up to be stored on my 4tb external harddrive. I went to the faq's but I'm stuck. There is so .env file on my Umbrel OS Immich folder. I just need complete help.

Renaming user and storage label

When I first setup Immich I created the first user with the wrong name. I have since added all my media and now I can see I can rename the user name and storage label, which I have done and kicked off the migration. However, after completing I noticed the old directory has media that hasn't been migrated to the new directory. There is about 400 media files under /library/firstuser that don't appear in the new /library/user dir. I have run the migration multiple times but nothing else happens. I'm wondering why this has happened and what to do about it? Is it a bug? Is it fixable? Do I need to trash Immich and start from scratch?...

Unable to backup on iOS app

First file fails with error in screen shot. All other files looks to be fine. Ie: progress bar completes and goes to next file. But remainder number does not go down.

Broken database (I think) makes immich-server not work(?)

First, I don't know if it's related, but my immich instance has been showing that it's transcoding 1 video for the past 2/3 weeks, I never gave it too much attention because things were working. Then somewhere between yesterday and today, it goes offline. I try to bring it up (i'm using docker compose, so docker-compose up) and the 4 containers start, nothing wrong in the logs, but I cannot see the webui. Convert External Library into an internal

Is there an easy way to convert an external library into an internal one? I don't want to create all thumbnails and meta data again. I have a huge external library connected and want to switch completely to immich right now. The data is on an external storage and mounted via NFS. I want to continue with this setup and would also like to store the new library data on NFS....

Simplest way to migrate from Synology Photo Station?

I am on Debian server, running Immich in Docker. I have my Synology Photo Station photos saved into folders, with each folder representing an album. All the folders are now copied to the machine where Immich is running. What is the best way to import the files into Immich, so that it creates a separate album from each folder? I've tried the External Library feature but this does not seem to be creating the albums automatically? Thanks! P.S. I guess the Photo Station variable is irrelevant here and the question can be parsed down to: how to import photos while creating albums based on the folder names the individual photos are stored in....

Storage template migration crashed server; all photo directory gone.

Hello. I set up a storage template and began the Storage Template Migration job. My server crashed due to an I/O error. Upon restarting the server, the directory containing the photo files is completely gone. Is this a known issue? I can't seem to find discussion on it anywhere online....

Is there a way to change the background colour displayed behind transparent pngs?

I am hoping to use Immich as a browser for 2d assets and a lot of them are transparent PNG's of patterns, the lines of which are black. Black lines on a black background is.. not great.

API Not Found Error

I'm trying to use an album on immich for my website and I get an error everytime I try to access the api. /api /ping /server-info all result in errors. Trying localip:port/api I am running a reverse proxy nginx but i get an error evern local ip. do I need to enable something to acess the api?

Mobile app stability

Hi everyone, I don't want this to be a rant, but I want to understand how to get to a usable state, because this is not it.
