In fact, I would start with the static force if any balancing is needed. My Approach is this. Turn off all effects and center the stick dead on the middle of the grid. If it drops significantly in any direction, apply static force until it doesn't. Now place the stick to the second to last corner on the grid. First north than south than west than east than nw, ne, sw, se. Etc. The stick should drop in the direction you put it with the same "speed". If not tune the static force accordingly. If you have difficulties balancing or a very long extension/ heavy grip, you may add some friction before starting the process. After that you can add some balancing spring.
My approach is that static force is meant to offset any weight imbalance of the physical stick (e,g. due to a gooseneck extension), and balancing spring is meant to help to keep the stick balanced in any position offset "center" position you put it. E.g. by trimming. I maybe wrong, but that worked pretty well for me.
Yep yep for me and my bro. He’s the one who 3d printed my Rhino on his X1
Works great in games and I really really love not just how it looks but how solid it feels when you’ve pulled it and got it in your hands.
Yes it’s two parts: A handle with a pin and a Base to the chair. Works very similar to how they work in real life
It’s basically just an Arduino box using a “breakaway switch” which is the pull pin part.
Here’s the build thread on Reddit and if you or anyone want a parts list or a breakdown (or more build pics) I’m happy to help out my fellow Rhino drivers.
I cannot get force trim to work in the Huey. The joystick always falls back to original position when I release it. What's the magic to get it to obey the force trim reset button?
Finally got Pilot Trimmer working. This after a lot of fiddling in the Configurator. I finally got the grip balanced with dot in blue circle. Not sure whether that was necessary but now the trimmer button works as expected. Pot#1 is at 15%. Thanks!
Hi guys, quick question: Does anybody use the Rhino with the WinWing F16EX with shaker kit? Is the Shaker somehow also supported by the platform or is it superfluous?
I had the opportunity to test the Moza Mh16 Grip and would like to buy it. I love the Warthog stick but it wheighs 1.2 Kg. The Mh16 is only 570 gram made of Aluminum. Do you think it works out of the box with the Vpforce Controller like the Warthog as a Generic Grip?
The weight of the Warthog grip isn’t an issue whatsoever though. I use it, and I‘m pretty sure lots of others, too. So if you worried that the weight would be an issue for the Rhino - you don’t need to.
It is an issue when you mount it with a long offset extension on a Motion Rig. Lot of work for the Motors, less agility difficult to recenter the stick with Motion active. I didn't now that they stole a source code. Only talking about the Stick, not the Base since I already build 3 Vpforce Bases. My question is, will the Stick that is compatible with a Thrusmaster Base, also work with the Vpforce controller? If it is forbidden to ask about Moza then sorry about that and forget my Question.
@Kite thank's for that Information, I didn't now that. But other question, I see the last Pictures of your v2 throttle mod, how it's going? Are you done with it? Can't wait for that extra leverage Every day I see the last unmodded thing on my Rig
If you meant the shaker kit as 'expantion body' for the joystick featured in https://boostedmedia.net/flight/winwing-16ex-metal-joystick-grip-with-shaker-kit-review/ , then it's working fine for me except button 41 and 42. I haven't tried every possible settings/axis though. I use it mostly for DCS. Ka-50 might be one of the module use most out of this expantion. I agree the naming 'shaker kit' is confusing. I don't care internal vibration motor came with WW joystick niether, while much nicer FFB/telem-effect is going strong.
If a stick works on a TM base it will work on the Rhino as generic grip. Read this thread under the functions section and there is some info on trying the moza on other bases. It sort of works but the hats are messed up. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/364801-moza-mh16-review/
Hello guys how long is approximately wait for the rhino? I will have budget for it the next year. But I am thinking about joyining the que now, as wait time is in months? Or not...?
I use a 20cm gooseneck as my extension too, and started with your setup as a starting template. Do you use the "Low Hydraulic Pressure Effect" in TelemFFB, and if you do, how do you setup the damper/inertia/friction overrides?
I don’t use neither of those effects, sorry. I set inertia friction and dampening only once per class (fixed wing or helicopter) in dedicated vp config profiles. And I haven’t tried the low hyd press effect yet.
