Hey guys, looking for some help here. I've build my own Rhino pedals. Without the motor, the pedals are moving very lightweight.
With the motor attached but still off, there is a bit of resistance, but still okay.
Once i power on the motor, i need a lot of force to actually move the pedals.
In the VP Configurator everything (springs, dampening, etc.) is turned off. The motor is online, USB is connected and i can calibrate the axis.
But i still have this high force requirement to actually move the pedals. As a sidenote, tuning the spring slider and such doesn't do anything.
What am i doing wrong?

Yes, the board is the original VPForce board.

Play with the natural dampening compensation value. Increase it and it should relieve the dampening you are feeling. If you increase it too far it will act like it is amplifying your inputs. You’ll find a value that makes it feel pretty free floating.

Thanks. I already tried that as well with no effect. It's like all the settings i do in VPForce Configurator are dead somehow. Although, it's recognizing the postion.

Yeah, it's named joystick. But i didn't connect the Rhino base (stick) for testing purposes.

Don't know what happened. After i connected with EDGE browser, it's fine. But natural spring dampening works now.

I been having the same issue for an month and half , also unable to find solution. In my case is similar to yours, only the X axis. Whenever multiple forces or effect are apply (per example an stall) the X axis fails totally , leaving me only the Y axis enable . Once reset by turning it on and off quickly it then goes fully hard to the left , like if the motor is applying full force to the left side. If you find an solution , pls let me know .

No motors fail in game, the stick is butter smooth except this feeling that it’s slipping under tension every now and then, which it isn’t as I’ve checked. However out of the game, with just the config loaded up, I have this issue when I move the stick vigorously. Not entirely sure what causes it but I’d like to fix the slip feeling more than this issue as this doesn’t affect me in game. Unless the issue are linked, maybe a duff motor or board or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The axis settings (curve and saturation) do affect the rhino.. just in a negative way. There's no correlation in the game between the axis scaling and the FFB output so when you enable a curve or saturation setting, the "axis position" and "ffb position" are out of sync.

Now, that said, DCS doesn't support FFB rudders natively and the FFB is handled by TelemFFB. You might actually get away with setting a saturation in the axis settings in DCS. I haven't tried it but I think it should work OK.

The alternative would be to set up a configurator proifle and manually edit the calibrated range max and min values. For example, if your calibrated range is 1275 to 3003, simply subtract/add an equal amount from both ends. 1075 and 3203 as an example. This will cause the full physical deflection of the axis to only amount to a partial excursion in the game , which is exactly what the saturation does for reducing sensitivity.

So, changing the axis is DCS did literally nothing, but I think your other option helped a bit, will need to try with a much bigger +/- to test.

Ahh, yeah. For pedals if you have the TelemFFB pedal trimming feature enabled I can see that behavior. When that is enabled we actually override the axis position by sending it via the API (so that we can control the actual axis position when the pedals move in response to "trim".

In that case, yeah, the axis settings in DCS (even including inversion) will do nothing.

I'm curious though.. I'm not some sort of super pilot but I never found the A10 to be particularly twitchy on the ground, even without disabling nosewheel steering at 70Kt as per the takeoff procedure. My modded ACE pedals do have a fairly large range of motion though (same as standard ACE).

"revert" will load the "running config" from the device into the configurator settings
"load" will load the "saved config" from the device into the configurator settings.

Running/saved config could be different if you made a modification and hit Apply rather than Store. This will change the running config, but will not save it to flash.

The A10 is an outlier for me, most other modules and MSFS are pretty good. Perhaps my Slaw range of motion is different. Will TelemFFB/Configurator ever have an axis scaling feature do you think?

Hi, can you do a quick test with the older v16 firmware? That will help me to isolate the issue. Don't forget to export your current settings.

I must specify that i own 2 different F-18 sticks and one brand new, and it happens with both of them. I also own the Virpil Warbrd and the VFX, and if I plug them, and set the proper stick type in VP Force configurator I am faced with the same exact problem
