update to 2.1 RC3 gives configuration error: 'allow_unknown_gcode_generator' is not valid

Recently installed RatOS 2.1 RC2. Updated RatOS to RC3 via mainsail. Subsequently updated RatOS Configurater upon which I now get the error shown in the image. How does one clean this up? Do I need to run configuration again?...

ratos-configurator.service stuck

Hi all, while setting up 2.1.x on a new SD card I now have trouble accessing the configurator. Worked fine at the beginning but after updating all components (including 150 OS packages) all of a sudden the configurator service stopped working. A quick check shows the ratos-configurator.service is now stucked in state activating. Accessing the configurator web interface ends in a 502 bad gateway response. Any idea how to get this fixed?...

No longer able to connect

Hey guys/gals.... I turned my printer on today and I can no longer connect to it via my laptop. It's a vcore 3.1 , raspberry pi, octopus board and ebb tool board. I cannot connect via my phone anymore either which is telling me this is pi issue. I've tried rebooting it several times via turning power off, waiting and turning back on to no avail....the last print I tried to do failed and the computer was downstairs so I hard shut it down. RatOS update all components stuck

I pressed update all on RatOS and it's been stuck on Updating npm and pnpm for 20 minutes. Do I need to wait more or can I safely unplug my printer out and back on?

nozzle wipe crashes into the bed

has anyone had an issue with the start print nozzle wipe (before z calibration) crashing the nozzle into the bed ?? the first layer is perfect just the initial nozzle wipe is set to low.

Running ethernet via a pc

Hello all, I've just moved to a new apartment and haven't had a chance to get WiFi yet and am currently just using my 5g hotspot for everything(the Pi wont connect to it), I was wondering if I could use an ethernet cable from my PC (which is connected to the hotspot) to the PI. Just making a sanity check before I go buy loads of ethernet cable. Any advise would be appreciated....

Extrude Only Move Too Long error during filament unload macro

getting the "extrude only move too long (-2016.922mm vs 600mm)" error when runnign the unload filament macro. Not sure why it's trying to retract so much, looking for pointers on where/how to fix.

Problems flashing the Octopus board, possibly

V-core-4 500mm. Desperately trying to move past the Octopus flash part of the installation but am continually getting an error that it can't connect to Klipper. Tried flashing via DMU and when I try from an SDcard it just errors again. Spent hours communicating with Ratrig and they have now suggested that somebody here might know because they seem to have run out of ideas.

Set RatOS Macro variables in Filament Start Gcode?

Whats the format to do this, I would like to make all my chamber heated filaments reduce the bed-soak Macro time significantly as the bed is used to heat the chamber and soaks for quite some time already.

502 Bad Gateway error with RatOS v2.1-RC2

I followed the instruction here https://os.ratrig.com/docs/installation I updated ratos, then ratos-configurator, then all components, updating went fine, but after they finished, I cannot access configurator, RA or VAOC, just 502 bad gateway screen...

Solution:

Try balena etcher again, but an earlier version

Raspberri Pi issue?

Hi everyone. Long time since I have posted - my printer has been nice and reliable for quite some time. I came to an issue over the weekend and think the Pi may be bricked? It started on Friday when I sent a print to the V-Core through RatOS and it uploaded but reported back that the upload failed. At this point, I was getting active temperature measurements etc. I looked in RatOS and found that I had a heap of updates to do, so started uploading them. When I went to update Klipper, it failed and since then have not been able to communicate to the printer. Given the issues and chatting with a friend who also has a V-Core, I updated RatOS on the Pi. This initially failed and assumed maybe my memory card failed so got a new one and installed the boot loader. Now, I can't seem to even get wireless up and running on the Pi and cannot connect via ethernet connection from Pi to Laptop either....

First layer squish (possible thermal expansion)

Hello, might be a bit over my head with this post. Initial problem: in the last month(after the update to rc3)(previous last update in november 2024) I started to get inconsistent first layer where the print started perfect and as it progressed within the first layer it started to squish the filament up to the point where it almost got embedded in the pei plate. All this happened after a beacon _ratos_calibrate after the update (rc3). Many hours later (48+ actual hours) of troubleshooting I have discovered a few things: 1.heatsoak helps (allow the bed to reach a stable point of expansion) but really inconvenient and clearly a problem with the last update since the software was able to compensate before for this. 2.Run beacon_ratos_calibrate with the heated at the usual printing temperature (my case 50 C) and got almost perfect layer for the last 8 prints (one first layer of 320x210mm) 3.(In my opinion unrelated to beacon, but still intresting) playing whit the tension screw on the extruder changes drasticly the consistency of the first layer (not going too tight or too loose -variance betwen a reasonable amount of force) the extruder is not at fault since I tried to recreate the "pattern" with 2 different extruders (LDO ORBITER 2.0 and LDO OBRITER 2.5)....

Reboot issue

Hello all, I don't think this is really a Ratos issue but I rebooted my Ratos and now it seems like it doesn't want to connect again. Nothing has changed, it's just decided it doesn't want to work any more and gives me this saying "refused to connect" am I missing something? Or is it fucked? Cheers J...

Slicer Support for Post-Processing

When will Orca 2.3.0 officially be supported in the Post-Processing plugin? I have currently bypassed post-processing in printer.cfg as I get an error when trying to print something that is sliced with Orca 2.3.0. I have a V-Core 3.1 single nozzle printer, so I assume the post-processing wasn't doing anything for my printer to begin with, so it's not a huge deal if the slicer is supported or not.

Klipper Screen load/unload IDEX

It seems like the unload macro on Klipper screen can’t be used because it’s not defined for IDEX printers. The printhead is required to be specified but can’t be done on the screen. I would suggest, that the homing procedure is required, and the active printhead should be the printhead which is selected on Klipper screen. This should lead to a working macro. If the homing is required must be discussed, but the active printhead should be taken from the selected one from the screen....

Loading Filament into Inactive Extruder Throws Move out of Range Error

Hey all, I'm not sure if this is expected behaviour or not, but if I load filament into T0 or T1 without first making that the active extruder in the UI, then the extruder primes the nozzle where it is parked on the oozeguard (rather than moving to the purge position like it would if the extruder was active) and throws a move out of range error when it's done, putting the printer in a shutdown state. Is there a way to make RatOS switch active extruders if filament insert is detected in the currently non-active extruder to avoid this?...

Full Story Hey everyone! I’m working on a super niche project and could really use your collective expertise. Imagine this: I’ve got a RatRig VCore 3.1-300 (which is amazing, by the way!), and I’m trying to integrate a smaller, custom CoreXY system inside its build volume. This secondary system uses the same CoreXY belt/pulley setup and routing as the VCore but has a smaller (250x250) area and no Z-axis—it’s purely for synchronized X/Y motion. Think of it like a "printer inside a printer" that needs to mirror the primary nozzle’s movements. Hardware Setup - BTT Octopus V1.1 F446 (Motor3/Motor4 unused, free endstop pins available and connected to PG10 and PG11)....
