For streaming games, doing a unlisted YouTube live is everything I needed. AV1 or HEVC on OBS is the way to go. For anything else that won't play nice with copyright, I set up a Owncast on a VM. It's very simple, just ran their script, configured caddy for the SSL certificate (optional) and it's ready to go
pretty sure davinci resolve was in a similar state when it first released on linux too (actually worse because it required running their own specific distro i think lol)
yeah after experiencing bazzite on my legion go probably not the best starter distro. I would say let them get familiar with something like linux mint first
On Desktops I find Bazzite to be more reliable. A lot of handhelds have a lot of quirks which are a pain to navigate through. The Desktop experience is a lot easier.
yeah I bet so which is why I said probably. But who knows what issues you could encounter which is why I suggest a started distro unless you want them to be their tech support I guess
