Live session with Am

[2022-11-09 01:17:12 AM] : Live session with Amy & Alex next week, super excited! :raised_hands:

<@U0A68ATKR> thank y

[2022-11-08 06:36:30 PM] : alex thank you so much for the detailed replies. These are pure gold. I’ve made reminders of them so I can assimilate them even more and have saved them. Thank you also for the encouragement. I appreciate it....

Kind of a weird ques

[2022-11-08 04:14:04 PM] : Kind of a weird question but hopefully some of you may have an answer. I've always been great at consuming content. Listening to stuff on the go, reading stuff in front of computer or phone and that's at all good. Ever since starting 30x500 I've been trying to think of ways to become more of a creator, and I can't seem to think of a whole lot of things that can help me, especially while I'm on the go, to replacce the habits of audiobooks/podcasts or reading something on my phone. Do you guys have anything that help you stay in "creator mode" - for a lack of better words - when on the go?...

I asked my lawyer ab

[2022-11-07 03:05:58 PM] : I asked my lawyer about it, and he suggested it's only worth doing if you have significant value in it

Has anyone trademark

[2022-11-07 02:56:21 PM] : Has anyone trademarked a name before? Is it worth it? Did you use a service you recommend?

Anyone got experienc

[2022-11-07 08:12:11 AM] : Anyone got experience of hosting an "Ask Me Anything" webinar? It goes against the grain here of being specific so thought I would ask as I'm wondering if it could still add value to my audience. This has come about as I'm considering running a "Christmas Lectures" style event and normally the Q+A parts of presentations are really useful. I'm also looking at something that has a low prep burden on me atm....

<@UJ6JPAJQ4> just a

[2022-11-01 12:40:01 AM] : Chris Drit just a few points that I haven't seen mentioned: 1. Calling them out on public could also backfire. Depending on how you frame it you might come off as vengeful (not sure if that's the right word in English but I hope you get what I mean) 2. You can take inspiration by their copy and improve your design or whatever they've done better. Basically copying the copycat 3. Can you tell if they see results? Can you learn something from that? Like do they use some kind of marketing tactic that you could also try out?...

This is a case where

[2022-10-31 11:30:41 PM] : This is a case where they reimplemented your idea rather than copied some of your IP right?

thank you for noting

[2022-10-31 02:13:30 PM] : thank you for noting and sharing the thought. sometimes people see things as "dated" and assume they don't apply...but there's a reason that most of our core source material is very old. it's the stuff that's stood the test of time, regardless of the specific tactics and tools!

and maybe in your ca

[2022-10-30 08:16:58 PM] : and maybe in your case they more explicitly copied you, which wasn't the case for me, but still I'm not sure what picking a fight gives you. like, what successful outcome can you imagine?

i have kind of an in

[2022-10-25 09:33:21 AM] : i have kind of an interesting update on my end. i started a new job last week, which i seem to have gotten based on the reputation i’ve built with my blog, podcast, talks, etc. i was hired specifically to help with their testing practices (at least for starters). i found that once i was in, i was given deference on testing matters again due to the reputation i’ve built. and then once i got started working, i found it quite easy to identify and fix some of their testing problems and make a material impact in a short amount of time. this experience is prompting some ideas for me. this job is a FT job but maybe at some point in the future i can go down the path of being a rails testing consultant, kind of like how nate berkopec is a rails performance consultant. prior to this job i only had a vague idea of what such a consultant might do, but the work i’m doing at this job is giving me a clearer idea of what kinds of testing problems might be patterns in the industry. anyway, just wanted to share that update. i had had an assumption that my 30x500 work could at some point help me get a job, and it did!...

What’s your method f

[2022-10-24 04:39:21 AM] : What’s your method for adding new articles to an existing evergreen newsletter? 1. At the end, at the risk of covering the same topic over a period of time 2. In between existing articles for topic variation, which skips sending to subs that are ahead in the sequence...

[2022-10-20 12:37:20 PM] : hopefully this brings the admittedly big, swirly set of steps covered in the lessons down to a more concrete and easier to apply reality

take a peek and most

[2022-10-20 11:42:31 AM] : take a peek and most of all, try using it to plan out your Safari time. keep in mind that this isn't a replacement for the lessons, it's reference to help you put all of the pieces together!...

[2022-10-20 11:33:44 AM] : SO with the help of some students and lots of feedback, we created a set of cheat sheets to make it easy to regain that birds eye view. and then we added in bunch of additional reminders, guidance, and advice that gets shared often here in the chat, to help you use ALL of the parts of the system.

On the topic of audi

[2022-10-19 07:04:42 PM] : On the topic of audience selection, here's a question: If we're planning on playing with the intersection of two audiences (for instance, a two-sided marketplace connecting Audience X with Audience Y), is it still necessary that both audiences fit the 4 criteria of a 30x500 audience (hang out together online, buys based on value, is one that I already belong to or serve, and include the 3 subcategories of peers, newbs, and clients.) I'm planning on going through the Sales Safari process for both audiences. Is there any other part of the process that should be treated differently when thinking about the intersection of two different audiences?...

[2022-10-19 03:25:10 PM] : and to extend this example into other parts of the 30x500 approach: consider that most people think of wine as a consumer product - and yet the first 5 years of his business were almost entirely b2b. now that he has a 7 figure foundation (and a small team to help), he's working on a consumer product. because his other businesses make it so he can afford to take the risk!...

[2022-10-19 03:18:31 PM] : for example: i have a friend who is a professional sommelier. at his level of training, he has literally less than 1000 immediate professional peers in the entire world, and one level up from him, there are less than 300 people. if he limited himself to working in just one state, or country (as many somms do, with a traditional job working at a restaurant) his options would be very limited. ...

be easier or harder for you to succeed with. And "choosing" is a non-permanent action. You can (and probably will!) adjust and adapt based on what you learn from Safari, but until you make a choice, you can't learn enough to adjust/adapt. So if you're feeling stuck on audience selection, make a choice using the guidance we provide so you can move on to the next step of finding watering holes! You won't regret it ...
