Z stepper identification

Simple question, which is the LEFT Z stepper and which is the RIGHT Z stepper? I can't find anything that says the orientation of the viewer (person) that will tell me which is which. Are they left and right as if I'm standing in front of the printer and I'm facing the front of the printer? Or is it the left and right side of the printer as if I'm standing behind the printer facing the back of the printer?

(SOLVED)Rasp Pi 3b+ not detecting ratos.local host ???

I loaded everything on Pi's card and did the first config and detected ratos.local fine...now I finished wiring everything to BTT SKR Pro 1.2 motherboard and when I start it again to upload firmware to MB I can't access local host anymore, BL-Touch does funny things when I turn on the printer....any ideas of what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Why is my filament marshmallowing to 1.6mm diameter?

This is Amazon Basic PLA that I am feeding manually through my VC3 control panel interface. I am loading 10mm of filament at 1mm/s. It starts coming out of the .6mm nozzle normally, but then the extruder sounds like it skips a couple of times and then the filament starts coming out at 1.6mm in diameter. Not even sure how thats possible, but it does it consistently. This is an E3D Hemera that I recently upgraded from 0.4mm to an 0.6mm nozzle. Does the same thing at 195 deg or 240 deg.

Z offset does not work consistently..

I have a vcore 3.1 500. I am using the superpinda... I set the z offset using CALIBRATE. It works, I then fine tune it.. I do a print. I do a second print.. then the third print, I have to make adjustments.. At which time I SAVE CHANGES. I then do another print.. then another.. then I need to fine tune it again.. and so on.. I have never experienced this before.. Any idea why? I look at my printer.cfg I see my z offset set there, but its requiring constant changes. My bed is heating up...

Klipper is not running (Yesterday it was)

Hi! Open thread in relation to Klipper. Yesterday I was printing without problem, turn off the "Host Control" and then disconnect the power. Today when I open RatOS I see the message of the image. I have updated all the Update Manager items, I have restarted several times but it does not respond.

FFSAKE I put so much effort into my belt alignment and now this

I put so much effort into getting my belts evenly tensioned or so I thought. I was confident I had eliminated all friction as much as possible and now this WTF. I guess I should replace the belts now presumably. My understanding is that you can get gates ones which are better quality, anyone know where from? Also any tips on how to ensure its doesn't happen again? I scrutinized the pulleys and belt motion so this baffles me.

When i try to hone x or y this is qhat happens. Right. Motor only moves when x endstop is pressed.

Not able to connect to VCore3.1

Hi, Today I ran into some weird issues with the connection to my Vcore3.1. Within the last days there were multiple problems connecting to it but it worked after unplugging and plugging the printer in again every time. But now I just can't connect to it. After looking into my Router to make sure the IP is right I tried connecting to it and something does happen, but it always stays in the "initializing" part, even after unplugging and plugging it in again. It stays there forever (I waited 20min and it was still there and didn't move any further). ...

z probe not working

i have a V minion for 2 weeks now an have printed fine with it but now if a want to probe the bed the nozzle crashes into the bed. het probe is still red led even when i restart the printer. also it doesn't trigger when i hold a piece of metal under it....

X motion jerking in Y direction, losing center.

I tried to start my first print and suddenly when moving in the X direction on the bed the gantry would jerk back in the y axis. If I move in the Y axis it also jerks slightly in the X. When I tried my first print it lost the center location and ended up attempting to print on the rear right corner of the bed, too. It's never had an issue with motion up until now and since I put in the first print it's doing it consistently. Video included....

Selecting Load Filament Unloads (LGX Lite)

I was getting ready to run my first print and when I selected "Load filament" on RatOS the LGX Lite unloaded instead. I'm guessing just some wires need to be swapped on the connector? Not sure which ones though.

[Errno 16] Device or resource busy 'devbtt-octopus-11'

The last three prints have failed with this error, the MCU becomes unavailable. Nothing has changed hardware wise. I made sure the RPi is connected though it's own power source (5V 20W) when it happened the first time. Also the RPi is sitting at it's lazy back all the time with 10 - 15% CPU usage and 30% RAM. The only difference is that now I am printing PLA. But I can't imagine a connection, bed and extrusion temps are lower. ...

How do you do the X axis mod. Specifically how the the 3d printed parts attach to the ends.

HI. I have a 500mm rat rig v core 3.1 with 2.0 enclosure. I got the carbon fiber x axis mod. is there a guide on how to connect the ends to the carbon fiber rod. it definitely connects differently than the regular aluminum extrusion. is there a guide out there that shows how to do the mod? im trying to figure out how to get nuts on the ends of the bolts but when trying to do it youre blind.

Thermal Runaway

My Ender 3 went into thermal runaway today (I shut off power just in time) just before I started to print parts for my Rat Rig build. I checked the thermistor was in place post failure. I also had upgraded the mainboard a while back and has octoprint, and I think thermal runaway is enabled on both. I am going to replace the thermistor as well as update all firmware, octoprint, etc. I know my Ender 3 has needed some TLC for some time, but this isn't the first printer I've worked with to go into thermal runaway. But this lead me to a few questions, especially to add more protection to both this and the rat rig: 1. Are there any hardware solutions to stop thermal runaway? Something like a fuse in the heater line that could trip if too high current too long? Or a setup which uses a secondary thermistor and a relay to cut power to the heater over a maximum value? 2. Redundant thermistors and firmware solution - Any way to incorporate multiple thermistors and some kind of filter where if the error between the thermistors exceeds a certain amount to shut off the heater?...

Phaetus rapido sudden temp plunge

Any ideas what might cause a sudden temp drop to be registered as seen in the following snapshot? This is a standard phaetus rapido uhf... I don't believe the reading is accurate... Is the thermistor going bad perhaps?
