(slight) resistance on one end of linear rails: de-racking vs using y-gantry to align rails?

I'm noticing a small amount of resistance on my Y rails towards the back of my v-core 3.1, which isn't there on the front half. I read on Ellis' guide that this could be the cause of some VFAs I'm noticing on the prints. Elli's guide recommends de-racking, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it with the v-core, and it occurred to me that I can probably just loosen the linear rails on the y axis slightly, move the gantry back and forth so it sets in the right position and then tighten it t...

Belt move too low and goes over flange

Hello, I have a problem with my upper belt in my 3.1: Despite having the pulley adjusted correctly (same height as the idler bearings) the upper belt keeps moving down and over the flange eventually blocking the whole systems. The upper bearings as well as the pulley all have the same height (distance according to ratrig instructions). Any ideas what could be causing this?...

Tightening belts causes y-rail noise Vcore3

Has anyone had this happen? After getting my deracking fully sorted with belts off, and the y-rail sliding nicely even with some inertia, I tighten up the belts and now its movement in Y is clunk clunk clunk clunk. Movement in the X doesn't have this problem, therefore limiting the variables to the Y rail bearings. Any thoughts?...

BIG WARNING ALL!

hey...regarding frame grounding (for safety with AC powered beds.... safety in general ) Yes you might have a ground wire to your frame near your power plug. ..... BUT do yourself a favor and take an ohm meter reading around your frame parts. That black passivization on the bolts , paint on the triangles etc , is apparently a pretty good insulator/isolator. Just because you bolted it together, does guarantee electrical conductivity... even going from random 6mm bolt head to another on the sam...

Help! I am loosing my mind over the ugly layer issue. V-Minion.

Hopefully someone can help here. I am one of the few here who has issues with the V-Minion putting out quite some ugly layers. But in spite of many others here I somehow can not get it fixed. Here is a picture of what print results I get....

4028 fan PWM adjustment

I recently installed Delta 4028 fan, I did the whole thing with 12V and it works, however, there's a problem. The fan starts moving at fairly low RPM at 47% fan speed and scales up from that as I speed up the fan. I also tried 100hz pwm, it can function on lower PWM, but it needs kickstarting and minimum fan RPM is considerably higher than with 25khz ...

'RatOS invalid' in update-tab

Hi! I wanted to update RatOS along klipper and moonraker a few months ago and it said 'RatOS' invalid in red color. When trying to soft or hard-recover RatOS it fails with the error 'fatal loose error', see picture. I told this problem here along another problem I had at this time so someone suggested my sd card was broken. However the SD card turned out to be fine so I decided to wait but nothing changed yet. I contacted RatRig regarding this issue and they told me to ask here. So here I am... I hope somebody can tell me what to do as I really want to update it further and ain't much of a software guy... Greetings, Vince...

Lubricating the linear rails with 3 in 1 oil

"Lubrication of the carriage is difficult, but not impossible, without removal from the rail. The easiest method to lubricate whilst installed is to use a light oil such as “3-in-1 oil” or sewing machine oil." I was reading this on the RatRig website. I have some 3 in 1 oil with no adatives. I was wondering if I can use a syringe I have and put this into the little ports that are on either side of the cariages as oposed to onto the rails. I seems to me it will be less messy. I really do not want...

Belt Erosion

Hey all, I was disassembling my Vcore 3.1 500 and found that the belts had been pretty horribly eroded. See pictures. What do you think could cause this? I am guessing the belts were way too tight.

occasional layer shift / Belt shifting

As you can see, can happen in the mide of the print. Very annoying. Pulleys are tigthened firmly. Where else can I check ?...

I need a fresh approach for my extruder clacking. (V-Core 3.0 400 with Duet Board)

I have a v-core 3.0 400mm with a Duet 3D Board, a Rapido UHF in HF mode (with a NozzleX) and severe issues with extruder clacking. For a while, the extruder clacking was only with Silk PLA which appears to not like Retraction very much (my working theory is that it's widening during the retraction phase, causing a Hotend Clog). However, today I tried to print standard eSun Pla+ after some time (which never made any issues) and I started having extruderclacking there as well... What is interesting is, that the clacking only happens after some time into the print, which may suggest Heatcreep but I don't know why this would get progressively worse and I'm also running the hotend fan at 100%. I also just dismantled the fan and looked at the cooling shroud for dust but it's still very clean. I seriously need a new pair of eyes to help me get a new perspective here....

BTT filament sensor keeps showing "empty" after a few seconds

Just installed the BTT "smart filament sensor" and it seems to be working, shows up in the main dashboard and says "detected" once filament is inserted. But after a few seconds of printing, it toggles itself to empty. If I slowly feed the filament through by hand while a print is going, it works as expected/pauses the print and shows empty once the filament runs out, so it seems like it's just expecting the filament to move faster than it actually is. I tried playing with detection_length, but various values between 1 and 100 don't seem to change anything, what else can I change? My config file if it helps any: [filament_motion_sensor btt_sfs] switch_pin: !PG12 #plugged into ESTOP4...

wired print artifacts

I've upgraded my rr500 to v3.1, since then I get this wired artifacts, normally a clear indicator of under extrusion but it's not. What I did so far: 1. Changed settings like acceleration, print speed etc. 2. Checked everything on the extrusin side, checked configs again and again, wiring, it extrudes what it should Extrude, no skipped steps or similar 3. Changed from orbiter 2.0 back to 1.5 with no difference...

V-Core 500 3.0 -- 3.1 Upgrade Woes

Beware of generic kits claiming to be V-Core 3.0 -> 3.1 upgrades. The joiner plates were for a 3.0 even though they stated 3.1 joiner plates. The flanges on the F695ZZ bearings were so rough they acted like grinders on the belt edges. Significant wear after one 60 minute print (note: have over 400 hours of printing on the old idlers and pulleys with almost no wear at all).

Buzzing Noise on X axis

Hey all. I finally got my minion ready, but the Motor on X axis is making a loud buzzing Noise but only on lower speeds (something beyond 50mm/s). What could cause this issue? after some tests the sound only occurs between f1750 and f2250 mm/min...

Connecting two board fans to the Octopus 1.1

Instead of wiring my two board fans in parallel and connecting them to PD12 I wanted to get the Octopus to trigger PD12 and PD13 in parallel. So I connected the fans to PD12 and 13 and added the following lines at the end of the printer.cfg [multi_pin fan_controller_board_pin]...
